Yes.  The 21° UW (mine is bent to 20°) launches lower than the Rogue Max 7w.  This is with 70g stiff shafts and my 99-100 mph swing speed.  But typically speaking a fairway metal will launch higher degree for degree than its hybrid/utility counterpart.

I shortened mine and added a lighter weight in the bottom and added melt to the toe.  It's money now.

Doesn't shortening the club make it more upright? I might have to bribe you to hotmelt mine this winter. I love the look and it is so good out of the rough...

Opposite. Longer = more upright.

Well my experiment with the 19° didn't work. Just too much club for me anymore.

This is a little concerning.  A couple rounds in with some range time and this guy is starting to rust.  Contacted Callaway and waiting to see what their thoughts are on this

This is a pretty well known issue with Callaway fairways, going back the past several models.  It’s just surface rust, cleans off pretty easily.  Callaway will replace it but the replacement will do the same.

curious what the explanation is?  Raw metal rusts.  Untreated metal rusts.  What’s the finish here that’s rusting?

Not really sure what Callaways explanation for it is.  I’ve never personally had one replaced, but I’ve read several threads from members here stating Callaway will replace for this reason.  
 

Had an epic speed fairway, it’s definitely just some kind of surface rust, wipes right off with a magic eraser.

I get the thought of it not being that big of a deal but if I clean my clubs then have to clean them again before a round is pretty sad.

Hey guys. Anyone tried the UW with the Ventus Red 7X ? Comparisons feel wise to the standard 6.5 shaft ?

Apparently there is a 23* but it is Tour only.  Retail is 17, 19 and 21.  
 

I would love to add a 24* to my 17 and 19

I hit my 21° (bent to 20°) so high already that 24° would send moon balls for me.  It’s probably the shaft - the UST Lin-Q is new to me and definitely launches ^ ^ ^

The UW can definitely launch it with the right shaft for the right speed. The stock shaft RDX Smoke Black in 70X still fires off in the 100ft range for me. One of the few clubs I am happy with the stock shaft in, but my current 3 and 5 woods are too point-and-shoot to swap out right now. If they did have a 24deg release, I would certainly kick out my old TM TP 4UDI for it.

Called Callaway Canada and they sent me a new 21* UW, installed the Aldila VS Proto 95X, looking forward to getting out on the course with it.  Hopefully this one does not rust

I've not had any of the rusting issues on my 17* or 21* that haven been mentioned by some in here. But I take my clubs out of the car after every round and store them inside the house.

there are 24* in some of Japan tour players but not in retail version

10-15 yards for me at 100-105 mph driver swing speed. The 17° gaps the same- 190-195 (21), 210-215 (19), 220-230 (17).  I have hit the 17 out to nearly driver length with a really hard swing, but swinging that hard with low spin is a recipe for disaster with just a little shut face. They will all go an extra 20 yards if I really swing hard.

Started out with the 19* UW with the stock RDX Black Smoke in 80g 6.5 flex.  Love it - no problem hitting it.  Now, i hated my 3 wood, so i went a got the 17* and the 21* with the same shaft.  Love the 21*, but find that I just dont carry the 17* as far as i would expect - just seems that it doesnt spin enough.  Anyone else seen this with the 17*?  Any thoughts on a different shaft?  Was thinking something a little more mid launch/mid spin might fit the bill here for me....or maybe stepping down to a 6.0 flex in the same shaft?  Or adding a 1/2" extension?  i just really dont know....

@J13 said he cut his down a 1/2" and added hotmelt to the toe. I did this but lead tape instead. I also added the ole faithful Aldila TOur Blue 75 tx. I now have the launch and spin I was looking for with my 17 and the "hooks" have gone away. I would try a "blue" profile shaft and you should see higher launch/spin. That stock shaft is horrible IMO...

yeah I had the same issue. I have a 17 & 21 UW and with the 21 the stock rdx 6.5 is totally fine but the 17 it lacked something mainly a consistent ball flight. Therefore installed a tour AD VR 8tx and lengthen it about .75” and has been money thus far. 
 

im sure there are other shafts that’ll do the trick I just happen to get a deal on the tour ad

15 yards probably would work. I need something between 5 iron and my 19* UW. You’re right though, the UW has that hot ball if you catch it higher on the face with a draw.

I am having this same issue too.  

 

How much did you tip the VR?
