That Ping would price a main line wedge $30 above the new Vokey would seem to show that there’s no one at the tiller at Ping.

That they would price the main line wedge higher than their forged pro model would appear to verify that recreational marijuana use is indeed legal and widespread in Arizona.

They won’t make a milled putter line to compete with Scotty, but they will make some wedges priced 30$ above the dominant market leader.

don’t even sell i210 anymore and release i59 at 64$ more than the market leader t100.

I bet Titleist really appreciates what ping is doing for them

This grind was actually surprisingly good before they went back to the funky high toe super offset version.  The ES grind on the 2.0 was just minimally  different but  had so much performance in it.

One of my favorite wedges.  And haven’t seen Ping release it in the last 3 releases

Frankly, and sadly, both Ping and TM are looking more and more like failed endeavors that are looking for a customer-financed exit strategy. TM still has over $2k of trade in clubs of mine on P790’s that should have been delivered 6 months ago. The newest and greatest Stealth irons may start to become available around the end of April…

Ping has killed off their best irons with only vague mirages of the future.

I can only hope I’m wrong.

Every few months, I hear about how Ping is "not in touch", "not making what we want", etc. etc.

Maybe, and hear me out… they watched PXG take their stuff across town and make super margins.

I'm thinking that if you can't raise prices in a global golf boom, when can you? They clearly have data that says this is the way they should go. You don't want to be a commodity brand; you want to be premium.

If you're going to have continuing supply problems, the simplest way to improve your bottom line is to raise your margin. No point in selling out and sitting around.

Bread was a nickel, gas was cheap, etc. etc…

I understand no one wants to pay significant price increases, including myself.

I do appreciate Ping’s release cycle on a lot their products. They sold the i210’s for about three years, slightly more maybe. I like the latest and greatest, so I could justify paying a little more for a Ping driver/irons/wedges once every 2-3 years compared to some other companies releasing product 1-2.

At the end of the day, Ping is setting a price point that they think people are willing to pay.

I guess we will see how it plays out. If some people don’t like it, there are plenty of other options out there for sure. Being upset at it isn’t going to change anything other than the club you play maybe.

Following PXG is not the model. Started as a high end brand and devolved into "I went nuts and slashed prices on everything".

Sure you can raise prices, but do it smart. Certainly keep it in line with your market leading competition.

Not releasing PLD putters, no regular product release cycle, $200+ cast wedges, and still putting turbulators on your all metal driver? Come on...

That retail has to be a typo, prob $208 CDN. Like you said that's more expensive than the forged pro which makes no sense.

Ping was never in danger of being a commodity brand. Still widely

viewed as one of the most original, high quality, innovative brands in history

It is a big pivot away from their loyal customers to emulate pxg with high margin clubs that aren’t priced competitively with market leaders

this

200 a wedge would be fine if the top selling wedge in the world wasn’t 20 bucks cheaper

good luck selling many of those

I’ve met and spent time with John K. One thing he isn’t is stupid. While I’ll agree some of the releases they have had especially in the wedge and putters in the past few years have not been good they are still very successful with woods and irons. Ping first and foremost is an engineering company, and that is embodied in the product they produce. Prices of golf equipment has been on a steady rise over the last few years and I think Ping has adjusted and understood they are going to sell X number of clubs so they price them according to that. It’s never been their goal to be the biggest golf company in the world and they will never be the marketing machine that other oems are.

There are 4 or 5 wedge makers I would buy from before I would even think about looking at ping. This price made me literally chuckle out loud.

These are 30 more than vokey

They are 50!!!! More than Cleveland.

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Golf Digest's price might be high -- think about it this way; they just came out with GFP, and it's $199 at retail.

My guess is Glide4 will be 169 at retail. Ninja flavour will be more.

And yes, that's me saying GD is overstating it.
