Quantum golf: the path to golf MAstery. I think is a great book especially for people who can play, great for the mindset, which effects the swing

My realization of a very simple fact over the winter while getting rid of my sway and fixing my swing -- it's all about the swing.  I'm not hitting the ball, I'm taking a good swing that hopefully has it's lowest point in the spot that will contact the ball for optimum ball flight.  Swing plane and face angle are the focus.  

Get a good swing and the rest is mental.

Without being overly technical deals with rotation around vertical axis and horizontal axis (often overlooked) and move towards target necessary for power and proper low point.

 

If I had to to advise somebody on what to do to play golf, I would tell them first to find out and understand how the club is designed to be used to impart both acceleration and spin to the ball instead of scoop the ball up.

Monte's Drive4Dough, NTC are fantastic and he's a great communicator who knows what he is talking about, if you want kind of a one stop shop kind of thing that's really good and up to date in the world of golf instruction.

 

AMG, also, but they aren't really one piece - lots of content, all great, but not really a start to finish kind of package, so to speak.

 

For "traditional", old school - Butch Harmon's and Tom Watson's DVD series are really, really good.  

 

IG is full of gold from Monte for various swing ideas the past couple of years.

Others have said Monte's No Turn Cast (NTC).  Monte himself has said this is his primer for the "full swing."

 

NTC is important because it promotes a concept of the golf swing, and is not just about drills and feels. 

Prime example:  The act of casting is only bad if done in the wrong direction.  

 

It is easier to change when your mind is given information it needs to comprehend the change.  Simple drills and feels don't work nearly as well if the mind doesn’t understand how to process them.  NTC stands out in this regard.

On the course, hit shots you know you can do.  If you have no confidence in any shot given where you are, hit the one most likely to leave you a shot you can do.

The correct pivot, for most amateurs,

feels like a reverse pivot.  I spent years trying to pivot correctly.  Monty mentioned this in a past post and it changed my game overnight.

What is taught in the NTC video is the basis of 90% of the instruction out there. Not saying that other instruction isnt important, but the No Turn Cast is simply the truth on how the downswing works.

Efficient Swing for an overall understanding of the swing

Drive for Dough to understand the most common swing faults and some possible fixes

Stack & Tilt is a good 2nd runner up and gets a lot of undeserved hate IMO. The pattern is pretty good when you apply the pieces you need

The efficient swing literally covers the whole swing. NTC does as well, but through a singular lens (which is not a negative).

 

Can't go wrong with either.

At this point, all the instruction content you'll need to break scratch is on Monte's website as long as you commit to it, although some feedback in lessons with a coach will probably be necessary.

 

Most important course (after the free set-up course) would be the efficient swing, followed by use the bounce 2.0.
