Thinking of giving a TSR3 a second chance. A few months back I had a 9’ TSR3 with 1K Black shaft, loved the feel but think it was a touch low spin and flight, didn’t like lofting up as my bad shot is left so prefer an open face.

Thinking of giving a 10’ in the same shaft a chance to get spin up a bit

Was planning on STEALTH2+ or G430 LST but concerned about the face separating on S+ and G430 feels very heavy to swing

For years I played 9° drivers. After my fitting at TPI I went to a 10° in the TSR3 to get launch and spin right for me. That was last November. I’ve had no thought of even giving another drive a look. This head with the right shaft is a great combination.

TMAG fan boy, loved stealth , broke a face literally right in the middle on og stealth , s2+ is nice but couldn’t recapture the OG stealth magic , tested , testing g430 lst ….

picked up a tsr3 and liking it so far , prob need a shaft change but using it bc it what i had tested a tsi3 with - old school pro 83 TS x @ 44.5” , I think it’s 350 or so grams , bit more of a sledge than i like but extremely straight

think of trying ~ Ventus blue TR 7tx again or 1k Pro white line

I have had success with both shafts you mentioned in the TSR3 head, and will be giving the new Tour AD VF 6TX a go soon. I have tried them all this year and keep coming back to TSR3 and G430 LST hah.

Its weighing 356g at 44.5 which is heavy for even my standards

will toy with a 60/70 at additional length set up to try to maximize some additional swing speed , but I’ll tell you at 356 with the pro tour spec 83x , it does not want to go left

going to try the D4 setting on course today , at D1 / a1 I was getting a tight spin and launch range at 118 mph of 1900-2000 , 12 LA , 14 if I pushed it on the launch monitor

Testing at the range , d4 if I push the handle and open the face open hit an easy high  cut and square is really really straight , putting it in the middle and choking down is a nice “stinger” fairway runner

out of all the drivers this year I’ve tried , ping 430 lst , s2+ , Titleist tsr3 has been the best for shot shaping

I was fitted into TSR2 Ventus Black TR 6x D2 9.0 degree (lofted to 8.25) last January to great results. Recently been having trouble slicing/too fade biased and much increased spin

Would you guys suggest trying out A2 or stock? Or keeping in D2 and just keep working on swing mechanics?

If the issue is recent it's likely your swing.

The spin makes sense. A slice always spins more. Face is open to path. Cutting across the ball.

But for a quick fix increasing loft will shut the face and hopefully straighten things out.

Try D3.

I recently was at a fitting day. I had already been fit for my TSR3 9* with Tour AD-IZ S (tipped 1.5"). I started hitting other combinations and stumbled upon a combo that gained me some ballspeed and tighter dispersion. Went with the TSR2 8* with Ventus Red TR X.  Absolutely loving it.

We host Team Titleist fittings at our course about once a month. Lots of good players come through.  But it’s not often we see someone with these numbers.  For reference he’s early 30’s and about Max Homas size.   Was really fun to work with the rep in getting him fit into a TSR3 Tensei 1k 70TX

Ha. You and me both.  It was really cool to be standing 5 feet from that CHS and BS.  After he was fit.

we challenged him to go after a couple to get to 190.  He got it to 127 CHS ans 193 ball speed on one.  It was a bit more of a push than his other ones.  But Damn!!!

Demo'd a TSR2 with Tensei Blue against my current Rogue ST gamer.

Loved the look and feel, but not sure I'm gaining much with the TSR2. Spin numbers not available.

For reference on the image, Driver is the TSR2, 2 wood is the Rogue and I hit each for around 40 balls.

20231030_123746-COLLAGE.jpg.cef7beb715baed25a2c52c8cf5e4fda5.jpg

Thoughts?

Based on those numbers would stick with gamer. However, if dispersion was significantly better with TSR2 then that could be worth a change. Same distance with better dispersion is huge. Otherwise you're good.

Thanks! I'm hitting over 65% of fairways with the Rogue ST so in all reality, I'm not going to significantly improve that.

I was in Dicks over the summer.  They had a barely-used TSR2 10* paired with a HZRDUS Red CB Gen4 in 50 5.5.   The shaft shouldn't have worked for me.  Too light, too soft and a swingweight that might have been in the Cs.

But from the first swing, it was game on with this thing.   Kept finding the center of the face.  My on-course (smooth) SS is high 90s, and I can get to 105-107 when I'm warmed up and stand on it.  I've spent enough time in that particular bay hitting clubs (and testing my own shafts) that I think the launch monitor is pretty accurate.  I was easily at 109, and when I went after it I saw 116.  Never been there before.

Seriously tried to justify the $500 to pick it up, even though I was about 6 months in with the TSR3 and VERY happy with it.   Didn't pull the trigger, and the club was gone a few weeks later.  Not sure if it was the head, the shaft or just a magical combination for my swing.   But it got me thinking (and my wallet worried).

I have the DF 50 in my TSR. It was a great performer then I went on a spree trying to find something better. I spent way too much money just to return to the DF. Thinking about picking up a backup as they are reasonably cheap and not sure there is really much more Mitsubishi technology in the 5th gen.

Tried Orange and White but not as good as DF for me. Also had the GT. Tried Ventus Black too as I played it in a TSi2 for over 2 years. I actually like the stock Black 1K best and moved it over to my Ping 430 LST and its a bomber. Playing that club now for the winter. The DF just works in the TSR for my swing and I am done experimenting for now.

I was finally able to hit the range and a Trackman session with my TSr2 driver w/ a Ventus TR Red 6s shaft. The shaft feels very smooth and stable. I don't have to swing all out to hit a great shot and that seems to be helping my dispersion. I’m also picking up like 20+ yards of carry over my old G425 Max w/ a Tensei AV Raw Orange shaft. So far I’m impressed.

Owned TSR2 since the pre-order last fall.  Picked it up in the same spec as my gamer TSi2 and learned quickly it was not a like for like replacement.  Sold the head and played TSi2 and dabbled with TSi3 through the winter

Tried TSR2 again, because the hype train convinced me I had missed out.  Same result, did not care for the feel and had a hard time spinning the toe ball enough to keep them in the air. Right back to TSi2 again...

Frustrated, I scheduled a fitting 2 hours away through a Titleist rep.  He was kind enough to walk me through how gains with anything would be minimal over my TSi2 since smash was consistently 1.48-1.50.  Walked away again a little flustered that I couldn't find an R to move into.

After getting home and looking over the Trackman data, one combo stood out.  TSR3 11 degrees, A1, Weight in T2.  6 shots that all averaged the same as my gamer, however not a single one crossed the left half of the fairway which is my biggest struggle off the tee.  Pulled the trigger, ordered the TSR3 and popped my Ventus TR Red into it when it showed up.

Two rounds in and I'm loving it.  Much better feel than TSi3, surprisingly more forgiving and an obvious upgrade in ball speed retention on my toe miss.  The sliding weight is magic for the person who fights a single miss at impact. Would've never guessed id end up in the 3 being a "2" player for the last 4-5 generations of Titleist drivers.
