WRT finances... having $10 - $20 million earned is a far cry from half a billion... I can see why he would go and I respect the fact he stated that the money was a factor.

Do you see now why some of us say “ seriously I wouldn’t take their money “. I wouldn’t take it if i were  me now. But if i were pga tour rich ?  I’d laugh at them every press conference.

Rahm is a competitive guy.  He just finished playing Mayakoba and I think reality hit him in the face.  Where's the juice?  What's my legacy going to be now?  He's taking the money but he's missing now the intrinsic value.  In a couple of years he'll be Dustin Johnson doing the bare minimum and collecting that check.  I totally understand why he might have buyer's remorse.  It's like going from being an NBA star to playing on the Harlem Globetrotters.  No history.  No tradition.  No fans.  No adulation.   Just money.

Well if I stayed in the tour and my pay day from a 3 billion investment was 21 million of equity that may or not be worth anything vs 50+ million in cash, I might be rethinking my assessment. The tour just got a Tom of money and the players are getting a small amount of it. Now that this info is out I might expect another group to be moving.

DJ got pretty plump there for a bit after he went to LIV.  Rahm doesn’t really have much margin to go down the same route.

Why would you believe that he wants to play any PGAT events? What Rahm says on Tuesday has no bearing on what he might say on Wednesday. He’s really not the most credible guy.

All the elevated events? Why? Seems like a lot more golf for guys who want to spend more time with their families.

 

Unless the Top 10 finishers from the PGA Fedex points list will have exemptions into all of the LIV events?

How many guys actually compete on the LIV tour? 20 competing and 40 mailing it in, maybe? I wouldnt give LIV anything, especially their own ranking system. The worse thing you can do to an EX is ignore them.

I see why some of you are upset, but as a father I can see why he made the choices he did. I commend him for his straight talk, non BS side stepping.
The loyalty to the PGAT drives your reasoning. I have no loyalty outside of my family.

Encouraging for LIV

 

The Google trends worldwide in the 3 month time frame shows a spike for the recent event that far eclipses the spike for the Rahm news

 

The question is, if it can carry over and actually realize the dotted line projections on the longer time frames

If the PIF/LIV contingent stonewalls for too long you can guarantee the recommendation of the current investigating committee both publicly and behind closed doors to their friends in Justice is going to be to axe the merger. With the PGA already having proven they can get to the B numbers regarding outside investment they really no longer need PIF funds to infuse the dollars so many outspoken players were clamoring for. Given both of those items being the case, LIV players can kiss any potential return to the Tour goodbye. 

 

Honestly the worst part of however this turns out is that a handful of greedy players and the puppeteers behind them have managed to upend the entire state of professional golf and may not even be a part of it any longer in any appreciable way once is all said and done. PIF has created disruption in the PGA, LPGA, DP, LET, and other tour ranks and in no way has created a more enjoyable, more tenable, or more professional product than what existed before. Nothing they have done has furthered the game of golf. 

 

Nothing about how this was handled makes sense from a big picture perspective either. Being disruptive with no plan to take advantage of the chaos you cause or to present yourself as the answer to it is just bad business practice. LIV has no appreciable plan to become a relevant tour for those who want to play the biggest events in the world and the way it's being run has no means to truly capture a global audience. This is the kind of thing they show in business classes as a prime example of how wrong things can go when there's no strategy behind the money. 

 

Whatever happens, the world of golf is more divided than ever and it's going to be years after this upheaval is done before any kind of normality returns. What PIF has done to the game is why I'll never watch, attend, or support anything that has to do with LIV, its players included.

Just noticed that Livgolf+ is not available in the Netherlands (where I live). Probably in order to grow the game over here.

Seriously, why wouldn't LIV be available in the Netherlands? For example its broadcasts are available via the internet, correct?

You know we can’t get into who and why we buy oil from outside sources. Its  a far cry from taking direct money from those who threaten 20 years in prison for speaking on certain topics , which amount to simply giving minutes at a board meeting.  
 

im a father too.  Handing your kids a bundle of cash makes them soft. Show them how to earn the cash.  But you have to think large picture anyway.  If you focus only on the micro , you’ll wake up one day with nowhere for the micro to spend that fortune.  Remember , you can’t eat money.
