The thing that never ceases to amaze me about this discussion is how little PGAT boosters actually know about it

 

They come in here and post stuff like “I have never watched a second of LIV and I never will but let me tell you why my opinion is factual” before spouting absolute drivel 

 

You’d think that curiosity would eventually lead them to undertaking a simple google search but it never does

Yeah but the PGAT will always  have some kind of ratings and there will be a floor.  Ratings will bounce back and then go down then go back up depending on era and its stars.  That’s the nature of ratings.   But LIV has no ratings and it’s already at rock bottom. It can’t go any lower.  🤣

PGAT has media deals generally lasting until 2030 & that’s a good thing because the winds of change are gathering strength 

 

Ratings are down YOY

 

Some long term tournament sponsors have declined renewal opportunities 

The PGAT is increasing tournament hosting fees and demanding a share in concession revenue thereby making it a less attractive proposition 

 

Now let’s look at LIV

 

Other than Adelaide, there’s no publicly available viewership numbers but it’s safe to say that they’re rubbish 

HOWEVER, if we look at their few media partners, one shareholder keeps popping up - the Murdoch family 

 

Then we look at the media investments of PIF itself and loe & behold, they’re enormous 

 

Combine the 2 and what do you think that the POTENTIAL ramifications are for LIV and its media exposure going forward?

In my household, we have free to air plus a premium subscription package that has broadcasts of PGAT, DPWT, AT, Australian Tour, etc and numerous streaming services 

 

I am not about to go out and buy another streaming service just to get LIV (or anything else for that matter)

 

I have no objections to the format so it would be next to impossible to convince someone to spend $ who does

 

One of the factors behind the success of LIV Adelaide is that it was broadcast live on free to air. People enjoyed watching it and now it’s forecast to be bigger this year

Can Liv succeed as an Oceania specific tour?  I've mentioned this before, maybe they could get a great footing in Oceania and the ME to get the ball rolling and spread goodwill.  It would take years but I could see it being a success in this manner. 

 

Taking over North America overnight isn't going to happen, especially with all of the bad will being generated.

LIV is on CW, it’s got national coverage for every household in the US, is free with the most basic cable/satellite plan or even a free antenna.

 

LIV is right there at the “bottom of the numbers” along with every other major network. CBS, NBC, Fox.

Let's also remember LIV streaming is 100% free and globally accessible at livgolf.com. Numbers are low as I've posted numerous times. They only have 1/2 the traffic of the PGAT in Australia where liv is allegedly so popular.
