Hope everything turned out okay. It can really be a lot of things.

Thanks. Still doing the shampoo treatments and hoping it goes away. Should be fine though.

Definitely not sunscreen. That’s a condition affecting his skin. Only he, his family, and his doctor know what it is really.

Not sure why you’d criticize anyone involved in letting him play golf. Kids his age are playing contact sports on a lot worse injuries than a sore ankle from a “growth spurt”

Man, when I was 13, I'd have played on a broken ankle with my dad for our Sunday round at some random goat track in rural NC; let alone a televised event with some of the best players in the world - and history.

Of course, he wouldn't have let me skip out anyway - them ol' Vietnam-era USMC vets didn't care too much for excuses 😂

This from yesterday.  Friend sent it to me off the telecast.  154 ball speed does not equate to 117 swing speed.  More like 102 to 104 which for a 13 year old tournament golfer is pretty average for that age.  Maybe a little above average.  Even if it was mishit, at 117 swing speed would still be in the high 160's for ball speed.

Hopefully TW’s trainers did some good work on CW last night and he can tape up his ankle and play more pain free today.

The Thomas’ vs the Singh’s vs the Woods’ for the PNC Championship belts sounds like must-watch TV for me for sure!!

I don’t recall they ever said his play speed is 117…..that is what he can top out at….likely with poorer results.  Play speed is likely closer to 110 or a hair less and down to 104 in an attempt to not hurt his ankle.

crazy how Charlie is playing flat footed basically the entire swing, to keep his left ankle from twisting on the follow through because it's injured. Looks like he is also keeping most his weight on back foot. Pretty hard to play golf that way especially how much he normally rotates.

I agree any chance to watch TW on Sunday in contention is must watch tv. Even my NFL will take a back seat today, only watch during commercial breaks.

I cant imagine CW will be  better today, if anything could be much worse. High ankle sprains, oops I mean 'growth spurts' are finicky and get worse before they get better.

Also Charlie Woods getting 150 ball speeds without any pressure shift is nuts. Hes got to be mid to upper 160s with a healthy body me thinks.

Even Padraig said he didn't like having the WC on up against Tiger because everyone will be watching Tiger. Personally, I'm watching the WC right now but it certainly is tempting to change it since Argentina is up two nil. The only thing keeping me tuned in is the fact that Argentina has given up 2 nil leads twice already this year.

BTW - how did a topic on Charlie Woods end up in the TOUR TALK thread?

yup and it’s pretty impressive that he is doing it and not just packing it in mentally.

golf is hard enough. It’s very frustrating to be injured. Some people/kids probably would have quit.

Yep, plus The PNC is a Champ event with Tour players participating.

Champs Tour is a branch of the PGAT.

Not to mention  that CW is the cub of the Tiger. Chances are pretty good that he'll be on tour.

I’d actually say chances are better he will not be a member of the PGA Tour at this point….

I have noticed the same.  Look up nearly any ranked junior ,or even unbanked for that matter, and they don’t enter scores.   Only tournament scores matter to them?  Too cool to bother?

College coaches don’t care about your handicap. Junior golf scoreboard and WAGR are all that matter. What you shoot in a casual round with your friends is not indicative of your tournament scoring.

This thread started with his junior tournament photos. Are we counting the Notah Begay event as a Tour now?

I get that….but it spills over to other “amateur” golfers.  For example if Tony Romo wants to play in the US Amateur he needs to be a 2.4 or less to go to qualifying. He has posted one score in 2022 and his last 20 go back to 2018.

Hey Man,

I like your posts and what they bring to the forum but I have to disagree on this one. Most people at Charlies level should have a handicap.

Handicaps do serve a purpose and are not 100% for posturing clowns.....clowns like me need them to sign up for Regional and National events and also to play in all events at my club.

Maybe he's under the microscope enough and doesn't want more scrutiny etc. but thats going to come with the territory for the rest of his days.

All due respect my man but ... I just think the whole thing is dumb and antithetical to golf and sport overall. If it were up to me, it'd just be erased all together.

I don't play competitively anymore because I don't care enough to do so but when I did like 30 years ago, we didn't do any handicap s***. We played a round of golf and whoever completed it with the fewest strokes won. Like, it's the whole point of the game.

I just don't get it or why it appeals to anyone. I don't get altering your actual performance - the measure of the game itself - with some arbitrary mathematical equation. It's not genuine. If I get 10 strokes and my 75 is a 65 and it "beats" Rory McIlroy's straight up 66 ... how can I say I won? I didn't - and it wasn't even close!

Fewest strokes over a round wins. That's the game. I don't show my pocket cards to some dumb tourist to make it easier for them. I just take their money when they shouldn't even be at the table. Simple as that.

Ok, you take that up with Mike Whan....I'm out.
