What driver are you gaming for the 23' season?

Well a few pages back I said my Sim Max. But I have a driver fitting Wednesday and I’m going in with an open mind. The only club I don’t want is the stealth 2, had enough issues with previous TM clubs and been a few people at our club with cracking faces.

Sunday was my first round with my new TSR3. Outstanding. I missed all of two (2) fairways - one of which was a bad kick going after a short par 4 green and the other was just a simply awful swing that resulted in a gnarly pull ... but it stayed in play.

 

I been a TS fan for years and I don't think there's a better series of drivers (or any woods, for that matter ... my OG TS2 5W is my secret weapon) out there today.

Yep it’s the Gen 6 for me. The CG is a bit different in this one and pulls the strike toward the heel for me a bit more than the Gen 5 did, but it is definitely longer and seems to have more potential in the long run, so I’m sticking with the Gen 6. 
 

It’s the 0311 10.5* head with a Motore X F3 6S shaft.

After originally stating I would be playing a TSR2, and a G430 Max, both have been sold. Tried a TSR3, and ST-Z 230. Mizuno was very good. Owned a BRNR as well. Sold that too. Sticking with my Rogue ST Max, and ST-Z 220 for now. Might try a Paradym, and Gen6 0311 down the road.

I gotta know, as I also thought I was rolling g430 max this year but abandoned that, why did you drop it?

Switched out my 8 degree sim 2 for a 8 degree stealth 2 plus and have really seen the benefits of the switch. My drives struck on the heel aren't slicing quite as much and I love the new sound compared to the old muddled stealth sound. I know the Stealth 2 has seen some bad press and QC problems lately, but I'm loving it.

I just wasn't as consistent with it as I would've like to have been. Definately a swing issue on my part.

Appreciate the honesty…it’s a great driver but for some weird reason, I’ve not gotten along well with a Ping driver since the g400max. But with an 11 year old and being crazy busy with work, my amount of practice time has gone to almost never. So I’ll own a majority of my inability to have been able to make them all work. Also read as my game currently sucks. 😂😂

For ‘23 I am using the Callaway Epic Speed with a 9* head adjusted +1. I liked my TM M5 but I’ve gained at least 5-yards of carry with the Epic Speed. Callaway was pushing their pre-owned clubs and this Speed was listed as “like new”. When it arrived, I was pleased to discover it is new! Not a mark on it.

Picked up a sim head and played it for a round. Way to fade biased for me. I kept blocking the ball all day. Coupled with a heel strike. Just wasn't comfortable. 

 

Possibly twist face isn't for me.

Going back to stz220. 

 

Will be posting the sim for sale soon. Has an og diamana kai'li 70 stiff.

Still in the g400 lst, 8.5* with a ventus black, long baby fades all day. Recently tried a stealth which had the odd wow ball but nowhere near the consistency.

10.5* G430 W/ Hzdrs red. Sold my G425 because my ears were bleeding. Played my TSI 2 the rest of last season. Great driver, but the first time I hit the 430 with the HZRDS Red it was the exact flight I was looking for. Very long and as forgiving as one would expect a Ping to be.

Well, bid on a sim max 9° head for no real good reason, but I won and got a good deal. So I'm going to try a  2 driver bag. Going to try to set the Sim max up for fade and the sim max d up for draw. We'll see how it works. Most likely sim max will be the primary backup, but I like trying weird bag setups,particularly for tee shots, since my home course I can pretty easily leave 4h in the bag.

Well bar two ping drivers I’ve gamed Taylormade back to the r540 days. After yesterdays fitting I’m now in a TSR2, although the g430 max ran it very close. It came down to looks in the end and I preferred the Titleist. It was also nice to see my toe misses hook and draw rather than block as I’ve seen with twist face last few years and there’s no more fade bias to my driver like my SIM Max. Considering my home course has OB right on 7 of the par 4s/5s  it’s good to see my baby draw back.
 

Just have to wait for it to turn up now, I’ve been told 3-5 working days but we shall see…..
