What driver are you gaming for the 23' season?

TSR3 9* with Ventus TR Black was silly good today.  Got fit to TR Blue with same head…. Shaft snapped across my shoulder blades day 5 of owning. Went black as replacement after Fuji told me I had done the impossible and wouldn’t warranty. Felt maybe the stiffer middle wouldn’t fail if it contacted my shoulders (so far so good. And boo to Fuji… what a joke/cop out, just wish their shaft wasn’t so damn good or I would be off them for life).

The black comes out a tad lower… and I contemplated going 10*… but today was crazy good.

So staying put for now.

Just got the Aerojet LS , 9* , saw some legit gains on the monitor largely due to less spin and maybe a mph or two of ballspeed despite my smash factor being a little erratic due to unfamiliarity . Playing the KaiLi white 60S for now but have an ADI DI and a Diamana D+ in the wings for a range session later this week.   I played the LTDX LS and LTDX  briefly last year and they were both considered failed experiments for me.  I couldn't keep the LTDX out  of the left , likely due to the Smoke Black that was in it being too light but I never really cared for it enough to play shaft roulette.  The LTDX LS was too polarizing, it was either an extra 10 yards over my F9 or dead birds.   In one round with the Aerojet I haven't had issues with either , feel is beyond excellent, numbers were consistent with what I saw in the store, and it's incredibly forgiving, been a few I kind of fell behind a little bit and expected to be looking in the woods to the right but wound up being 10 yard pushes that held their line and landed just off the fairway.

In my world accuracy trumps all, so it's the LTDx LS which beat the G430, TSR, and Srixon drivers.  One reason for this is that I upgraded my shaft which now gives me more distance and accuracy instead of just accuracy.  Currently, I'm curious about the Stealth and Aerojet but am in no rush.

Scratch that - no reason to switch, but  gonna try this TSR2 I’ve heard so many great things about.

The Paradym TD was better than the TSR3 and Stealth 2 Plus, but I’m willing to give up some distance for accuracy (I tend to miss more with my driver than I should).  Enter TSR2.

Scratch that previous scratch.  Ended up going home with the Cobra Aerojet LS.  I’m sure this is the one.

Just swapped heads from the Rogue Max LS 9* to a Rogue Max D 10.5 degree. I only swing about 90mph and I needed the additional launch.

I also cut my driver shaft down to play at 45" and added weight to the driver head to get to D4. I'm liking the heavier feel compared to the D1-D2 I was playing with before.

Went back to the OG Stealth+ but it's paired with the TPT Yellow 15 HI.  Ball speed is higher on average than the Stealth 2+ I had.  Playing it in the higher setting which is really weird to me at set up as my miss is the big hook but oddly enough, launch is in a good window and it's a consistent 5-15 yard draw.  I think it's the combo of a more stable and heavier shaft that's really helping my delivery into the ball.  I'm also finding the sweet spot more often as well.  I may see my handicap drop a few strokes if this keeps up.

I'm confused, the title says "driver", which insinuates 1 sing driver for the '23 season; surely you jest?

I'm just getting started back after a 5 year hiatus so I'm certain there will be driver(s), starting with a Rogue from a few years ago and picked up a lightly used  Rogue ST Max on here this week; so that's where I'll start 😉

After a winter of messing around on indoor sims, am starting the season (course opens tomorrow) with a Speedzone coupled with a Tensei Blue 65 R shaft that I picked up yesterday 😅. Ball speed and how forgiving it is on mishits beat out all the other drivers I have tried during this offseason.

Thought I had landed on a Rogue ST Max LS with the AV White 65 X-stiff, but that couldn't substantially better the Cobra F8+ with the Smoke Green 70g 6.0 shaft I had in my bag from before so wasn't worth the asking price. Also tried out the Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond with different shafts as well as the G430. While my swing speed (about 98-100mph) says I shouldn't be playing these heavier shafts, my swing can't make lighter softer shafts work. Also, prices for the new gear are exorbitant so I couldn't justify the outlay for a new one. I was thinking of just using the Smoke Green with the Speedzone head, but on the sim, going head to head, the Tensei was giving me better numbers (but that could be due to it being about 0.5" longer). I will decide when I finally get to see some ball flights outside which shaft I keep. Driving is the weakest part of my game with the snap hook OB tormenting me.

Started the year with the TM M4 8.5. Its been in my bag for 4-5 years now, and nothing new has been able to beat it enough to drop the $. Just got my hands on an original M2 in 10.5 and I gotta say this driver is still sooooo good. Beat the M4 in ball speed and spin, immediately into the bag.

Stealth+ with Tensei Pro White 1K 50TX. Really wanted the TSr2 to knock it out, as testing showed much better front to back dispersion.  Ended up turning the stealth down to -2 (9 to 7) and for my swing it really helped with my misses.  Keeps ball speed up and spin down on my bad strikes.  Still have the TSr2, but don’t see it making the bag any time soon.

Just left Carl's Golfland with a Paradym driver. I have a LTDx LS at home with a Fuji NX Speeder 50s shaft that has hit like 20 golf balls. I just could resist the Callaway so they will get tested in the garage on the monitor, but it seems to me the cobra is a touch longer and the callaway is way more accurate. I will take the accuracy every time. I don't hit it long anyways.

Just picked up a PING G430 SFT 10.5* with Alta CB 55 shaft as the Paradym X head just felt way too light for me so I thought I would give this a try as I'm more about finding fairways instead of distance. I do have a VA Composites Raijin 2.0 55 shaft arriving next week as I just haven’t found much out there better when it comes to Graphite Design shaft ms as my next favorite shaft has always been Fujikura. So I'm pretty excite to try this new VA Raijin 2.0 shaft out as I can remember years ago how much I like my Oban Kiyoshi Purple and White. The VA shaft play very similar but with more advanced material.

Thought I'd stay with the epic speed at 45.75". Got the ole Cobra F9 out and am so much more comfortable with it. Plays at 44" and I love it. I'll cut down the epic speed and throw some hot melt in the head at some point this year, but the F9 is just so damn good still.

Since had a very poor experience with Titleist warranty/repair department on a TSi2 fairway, moved away from Titleist products and went back to a more brand agnostic approach.
Currently using a 10.5* Epic Speed with Tour AD HD 6s at 45.25” and appropriately hotmelted (that should have never gone away from in first place).

TSi3 with RDX Black 6.5. Recently cut down to 44.5 inches and added lead tape. Loving it.

I may be getting a full bag fit this summer so we will see. I haven't had a full bag fit in a long time, just kind of been playing what I know has been working in the past but I need to get things looked at again. I keep going into to fittings and start swinging it terrible so I know I'm not getting the best results either.

I need a good outdoor fitting...
