Anthony Kim - Gawd I miss this guy (THREADS MERGED)

With all the equipment, fitness, etc., companies out there and tangentials like energy drinks & supplements, plus sports betting going in on known faces I can't imagine his agent couldn't put together enough money to cover the insurance policy without him going to LIV. AK is about the crowd love & the fanfare, which is sitting just north of zero on the team tour so I can't see that route popping off. The info about them not being interested at first probably isn't going to help their case. 

 

That said, people change, and even playing exhibition matches he'd make more money than just living off of that insurance payout. I hope he still has the nerve and drive to want more and returns to the PGA. Would be fun to see him getting it done again.

I know he wasn't dominate. He was fun to watch. That's what I miss. I do think he would have learned to win as he got close to 30. We will never know. Hope it's not LIV. Bit I'd bet money not is. That paycheck will have some zzzeeee rowsss

Someone wants to pay him, sounds like he now needs the money and I’m sure LIV wants the hype. Doubt the PGA Tour is subsidizing or bending any rules for him.
 

He was entertaining and sorry to see him struggle with injury but he had himself covered and made a choice.

I had dinner with Hank Haney once in Dallas. He said he gets asked all...the...time about AK and where he was at and when he was coming back. HH said look, you have no idea what time away from the PGAT grind does for these guys. You have no idea how much work goes in every single day of the week, the grind, the Monday/Tuesday prep work - to say nothing of the time between the ropes. Striping the ball on the range and crushing your boys in cash games means nothing compared to being in between the ropes on a Sunday. He went on for 15 minutes about how hard it was and how much he just respected all of the work that guys put in on Tour - and that AK had just been away for too long.

AK cracking the top 50 would be ****ing crazy. Like seriously, it's so hard to come back and play good tournament golf when you've been away from it for a long time. It's not a question of whether he can still physically hit most of the shots he needs; likely he can. It's doing it in a tournament when the pressure is on the line against the best 100 players in the world, and doing it better than all of them. 

 

But at the same time if you'd asked me a year ago whether Camilo would win a PGA tour tournament in 2023, I would have told you you were out of your ****ing mind. 

 

So I'm saying there's a chance.

Said it before. The only way I would watch Liv, one round and one round only, is to watch AK play. I pray he doesn't go there, but I don't see him being able to compete in a real golf tournament. Hope he gives the PGA Tour a shot. If the rumors of him having received an insurance policy payout, and having to pay it back, Liv is the only option at this point.

Doesn't do much for the idea that LIV is a serious golf league, but definitely makes headlines. We'll see what LIV finds more important.

If he’s still got the game then we will see.  Everyone on here has been talking about story lines driving interest.  He makes a  return and is still very good it will be a fun story.
