I wish him the best and it be happy to see him do well. It does sound "sus" as the kids say... that he could not play pro golf for so long and fight at the top of the field

My issue with AK returning is that it's nothing more than a money grab, especially if he joins liv. I'll admit it would certainly fit the narrative.

The one time I attended the Farmers was AK's last year playing on tour.  Followed him and Phil (same grouping) and really enjoyed the show.  I mentioned to my son that Phil seemed to be paying attn. to what AK was doing and was digging deep as he didn't want to be out played.

For the life of me I can't remember who the third person was in their grouping... 🤔

People forget how much swag he had, but I know part of the reason he left wasn't just the insurance, it was that he essentially played to please his Dad.  My understanding is he's reconciled that, so for him to come back without that emotional baggage would be huge.

Where does this stuff come from?!?!  AK had swagger in high school.  We've seen those "Tiger" parents and their miserable kids on the range.  Young AK was nowhere near that.  I don't know where he got his competitive streak and relentless practice but it wasn't from Dad!

I'm going to take these rumors of AK back on tour as a combination of he thinks he's still got game and he's finally healthy, as in 170+ ballspeed without pain.   Anything less and the comeback will be over before it starts.

Its been taken down so I cant see it but is that the 20 second swing video that come to find out was from three or four years ago?

This thread is hilarious. We've been hearing for like a decade on this forum about how badly people want AK to come back. Then he's probably coming back, and people are like, "Who cares?".

  • He was at 117 club speed in 2008, which was before he got injured. If he's still swinging at that speed, 117 puts him right with Cantlay, Homa, and Hoviland... That's a big if...
  • In 2008 he was .474 strokes gained approach, which put him 29th. That puts him right at Putnam, Homa, Fleetwood, and Lowry...
  • Seems like a good comp is Max Homa if he can can get back to form. Looking at DataGolf, he's about like Max off the tee/approach; but with a little better putting and short game. But we've seen how hard it is for Tiger to get back into after a 2 year layoff... One a scale of 1 to Tiger, Anthony might be a 6 at most...

Can't agree. If you scroll back there's plenty of enthusiasm, assuming he goes to the PGA. If he goes LIV it's clearly about nothing but the money and there's nothing reassembling competition or pressure to bring out the energy AK is remembered for. There's also the fact that hardly anyone here watches LIV to begin with. Everyone's reserved because there's nothing but rumors at the moment.

So...all he has to do is get back to the form he had in his one great year - *sixteen* years ago - and then he would comp to current players? Seems reasonable, absolutely no chance your body has any changes going on in 16 years LOL.

Y’all remember this one?

Check the upload date. Vintage AK, Brady Riggs (RedGoat), Kevin Scheller, Woodley Lakes GC.

Can’t quite make out what Tony says about his shot around the 7:53 mark 😎 If he’s healthy and brings this level of confidence to the course, probably wise to bet against him with someone else’s money.

I kind of enjoyed AK back in the day, but there is no way he has enough game to tee it up in a real tournament.  Too many years, too much comfortable living.

If there is a golfer who could make a comeback, it's Kim. He has the mindset and he's up there with the freaks.

Last day of the 2008 Ryder where he destroyed Garcia was an amazing spectacle. Nutters like him do not know what pressure is.

I wish him the best.

He says Panty Dropper and the guy you are referring to as Kevin is actually James Jordan.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

I don't get the overwhelming desire on here for AK's return. But I will say, this is fun to watch:

The best paragraph in this article was the last.. Kinda poetic.

"Nostalgia only works as a thought exercise, and any resurrection because of it is a road to disappointment. There’s been enough of that in golf as of late. The best thing Anthony Kim can do is remain in the shadows. Some things are best left in the past, where they can enjoy an existence they never truly had."
