This will go very badly for AK and LIV

Hes 37 and hasn’t played tournament golf, much less pro golf, for how long

He will shoot a bunch of 80s, maybe 90s

It will be cool, then funny, then a bad joke

AK should have been bought in as an on course announcer or something. The “legend” status was cool, but this will go sideways fast

Just one correction. Kim will be 39 in June.

I wish him the best and all, but it’s hard not to feel like AK was very much a product of his time. A young golf prospect with personality was something of a novelty then, but guys with his pedigree are pretty ubiquitous now.

Callaway Rogue ST Max 10.5 deg.

Cobra LTDx LS 5 wood

Srixon ZX 3 hybrid

Ping S55 4-PW

Ping Glide 3.0 wedges

Bettinardi Studio Stock #8

ibm! Wasssuup?!

Well, I’ll defer to your opinion, what do you think he averages over 3 rounds?

Im thinking…82

To shoot 80, he needs to par 10 holes, and bogey 8 holes.

And that’s with no blowups.

I don’t think he can manage that

What say you? 🍻

I’d bet  one round high 60s, and two rounds between 70 and 75..

I’d say maybe 1 in 50 million chance that he shoots over 90.

One in 100 chance that he shoots over 80.

You have to remember that this is basically a fun pro am. There will be music playing, he can play in shorts, will be next to zero pressure whatsoever for him.  He’ll probably be high as a kite and just hanging out, playing golf like he would be back in Vegas.

If he wasn’t shooting lots of rounds in the mid/high 60s in practice, there’s no chance he would play.

Edit: the one in 50 million comment is basically saying that if there’s even a remote chance that it looks like he’s going to post over 83, he would just walk off the course.

What’s a Jeddah?

Only the Sith deal in absolutes.

On the topic, I was looking forward to a possible A.K. comeback, but aside from what filters in organically I won't be paying him any mind as he went to LIV. Sad that he didn't work with the Tour to take advantage of his past winner status and get some exemptions alongside some sponsor deals, easily could have been his road back and allowed him a shot at playing competitive golf again if he has the game.

Sounding like even the limited funds from LIV are enough to cover whatever lifestyle creep he's become accustomed to. Ah well.

Money games, lol, whatever they are, mean very little and he's playing with money from the same house.

Agreed….though this thread gave me an idea for a LIV team that would fit their narrative.

Anthony Kim

Boo Weekley

Hunter Mahan

Chad Campbell

Team name could be the Cero Ocho’s 😎

How many of you WRX keyboard pros won a PGA Tour event?

Sorry boys, winning your local club championship doesn’t mean you can sit here and attempt to lessen what AK did or what he’s attempting to do now. None of you have been on that level and never will be, myself included.

Back to your keyboards you go, before your significant others tell you it’s time to go to Home Depot.

Carry on…

So much irony in this post.

I honestly don’t know. It hasn’t seemed like many of the LIV events are set up particularly difficult though. I think they recognize that the perception of shooting low scores is very important to their cause.
The crowd that watches LIV is not generally the sort of people who want every event to be like a US Open.

The only "legend" status AK ever had was within the bro/frat boy culture. That fact likely still holds true today. Which quite honestly is laughable.

While he had a couple notable highlights (as many other players have) on the PGA Tour he was not all that special as a player. 3 wins, no majors. All AK's career had from a bunch of people is the what would of/could of beens that never happened and never will. Way more flash/hype over actual substance (results) than many other players with better playing resumes.

The fact that it's taking a broken down out of sight out of mind at best middle of the road former tour player that's been gone for 12+ years to get people talking about golf shows how bad of a spot golf is in at present.

It's a blend of the mystique surrounding him for those times he really peaked along with his personality. He was a lot more chill than the norm at the time and he brought out a side of the guys he was around that they really didn't otherwise show.

Going to disagree with you that it's a negative that he's still regarded positively overall. Also not quite sure how people being interested in him is an indication that golf is in a bad spot. There are plenty of "what could have been" players in many sports who would get buzz if they showed up today.

With all due respect Cupcake. These types of post/comments are amongst the worst on WRX IMO. Because based on them we shouldn’t be critical of and player unless we have equaled or bested their achievements on the course. If that were the case, this place would be a virtual ghost 👻 town!
😂

*and the internet as we know it would cease to exist!

**maybe not a horrible thing!

***okay, I’m off to Home Depot 😊

It’s like me given Warren Buffet financial advice….That wouldn’t be very credible LOL

The fact that people in golf are getting excited for an average former tour player nearing the age of 40 returning to the game that's been gone for 12 years should consider this. AK has 1 more tour win than Ted Potter, Jr. (2), has the same number of tour wins as D.A. Points (3) and has 1 less tour win including a major championship than Ben Curtis (4) is a definite sign that golf is in a bad spot professionally if this is what qualifies as exciting and is being celebrated.

AK is not some all time great coming back to the game. No matter how many people have over glorified him and his on course results.

I should have stated professionally above. And lets he honest golf professionally overall is in a bad state. That can not even be debated.
