Is it a possibility that, maybe during testing, none of the Tour staff wanted to play the T after trying the 0317 range? Or there were no advantages to the T over 0317?

 

I don’t agree with all the ‘hot spots’ stuff, but I could see why a solid forged iron would be perceived to more consistent than a flexy-faced, gooey one.
 

I imagine it’d feel better too, at least to guys on tour. I personally love the feel of the Gen 5 irons, but I guess it’s a bit like soft insert putters which I also love, but I know a lot of people aren’t fans of.

Good to know.  I currently play the Gen 2 T and the performance in my pxg fitting was Gen 5 was better.  But not sure on the course.  You can for sure say your performance has gotten better with each generation?

Yes.  Each set has been a little better and infinitely better feeling than the Gen 2.

I've played every Gen of the PXG irons. TO ME the biggest jump in performance/forgiveness was from Gen 2 to Gen 3. There was a small jump in performance between each ( 4 and 5 ) of the following since but nothing significant.

 

I played the G5 for a while but just couldn't adjust to the looks, way to busy for me. I have to like the looks of something  no matter what it is to keep it.

 

I am VERY HAPPY with my G4 Xtreme Dark XP's, so much so that for the first time EVER since I started playing golf I have an identical back up set.

 

After seeing the "supposedly" pic of the Gen 6 I will be sticking with the G4's.

My local golf simulator had a PXG demo day today and I asked the PXG fitter if you can order black versions of iron shafts (ie projext x) and he said they don't offer them. But he told me that the black coating on those shafts make it difficult for the epoxy to hold the iron heads in place and sometimes they can fly off. Has any heard of this happening or is he blowing smoke because they don't offer them on orders?

Gen5 Irons are by far the best irons ever made especially when fitted with correct shaft for the individual player but PXG should come up with a new driver to compete with the newest TM and Titleist, so through my pxg connections I couldn’t find any rumors or new product releases but I’m sure they will come up with new version of driver at least to compete with TM Stealth2 which blows current pxg as well Callaway Paradigme

Clubmaking 101: shaft tips are prepped prior to installation, so non-issue.

Yes had my fitter install them with the MMT’s and TGM leather Roo grips.  Love the feel.  First time I’ve tried those.

The pics I saw of the Gen6 have the contrasting colors as well. I’m looking to update my Gen3’s but can’t stand the contrasting look. Imho they would look so much cleaner without the contrasting colors.

Serious question.  What’s up w this nick jonas collection?   I’m really trying to wrap my arms around what pxg’s vision was here by doing this.  Not a fan of it at all. I love my irons but I think it’s times to move on to another brand. They’re all good irons out there now.  What am I missing here?  Is anyone here rushing out to buy this Jonas collection and actually wear on the course?   Their clothing is expensive enough.  Thanks. 🤔

Parsons has a business plan, and seeing his past ventures I wouldn’t question it.  I am not a NJ fan but many younger people are.  Could be he is using a clothing line to attract a new generation of golfers? Maybe…..

Going to get new irons despite loving your current ones just because they’ve released a clothing line partnership with a musician?! Sounds like your screws need tightening more than the tungsten plugs on my Gen 3T’s did!

I guess to be fair, PXG has been opening beautiful stores nationwide whereas the Titleist and Callaway's of the world use Dicks Sporting so there is your drop the mic moment.

How much would a set of 4-PW Gen5 0311 irons and a Gen5 Driver set you guys back in the US? Just been looking over here in the U.K, and for me in my specs it would be about £80 more than if I went with the new Stealth 2 plus driver and 4-PW of the P7MC. Incredible stuff considering it wasn’t that long ago that PXG was 3 or 4x the price of the OEM’s. PXG offer a much better and comprehensive fitting process here too!

In some ways I get what you're saying but mostly I don't. Have you really matched your clothes in past to your Iron brand?

Are there many people showing off their srixon pants on the course?

Cobra leggings?

Do I play a Cleveland wedge and want the matching sweater?

I've never ever cared about clothing. Example I used to have all Callaway in bag but do I buy their clothing? No. I like Nike so most stuff is Nike even though I never played their golf clubs even when they made them.

 

Not sure how people walking around in his clothing has any effect on the clubs you play. Nobody gives it much thought at all because likely most are not wearing the stuff anyhow it's very pricey. If Nick Jonas flaunting strange flip flop sliders has you rethinking your iron or driver brand your a bit overthinking in the first place.
