Golf Ball for Scrambles

I’m going to be playing in a few scrambles this summer and am usually the guy that goes last and takes some provocative lines off the tee.  
 

I don’t want to be launching my shiny new ProV1x into the trees all day.  Are there any cheaper 2-piece balls that just want to go long and straight?

I guess just cheaper balls.  Doesn’t have to be a 2 piece. Just not 70/dz (Canadian).

I'm generally in mid-80s to mid-90s, so take this for what it's worth, but I've settled on the Wilson 50 elite (in orange) until they stop making it.  Just bought 4 doz for about $70.  Multiple places online selling prior generation pretty cheap.

Wilson Zip, Wilson 50 Elite, Callaway Warbird.  Long and far and you're used to ProV1 firmness I'd go Warbird.

But since you are a man of the people and care about score I offer the Top Flite (Hammer time.) This isn't your dad's Rock.Flite, these actually compress a little. Dick's and Golf Galaxy carry them.

If you're used to the Pro V1x, how about the new Kirkland ball? Great price. Don't have to cry about it and guys that have played it so far seem impressed with the performance. 

 

From a cost/performance perspective seems like it could do the trick, plus you still have a ball that can stick some greens if needed.

In all the testing, the Maxfli Tours from Dicks outdistance the Pro V's typically and are about half the price. Their overall performance is right there too. IT is overlooked because they aren't playing pros 5k a week to play it though.

For scrambles, do you have to finish the hole using the same type of ball you hit off the tee?

 

I mean, most of the rules are thrown out the window for these things, so are you allowed to hit a pure distance ball off the tee and then play your normal urethane-cover ball for the rest of the hole?

I doubt it matters much as scrambles are silly golf. Especially when you can buy mulligans and even throws beforehand, not even going to get into the rampant cheating. Do you really think anyone cares is Jonny started the hole with a Wilson ball and ended with titleist?

i play alot of scrambles, and no you don't have to finish the hole with same ball.  E9 or Top flite would be fine.  Then you use your regular ball for all non drives.

I'd buy whatever the cheapest distance balls you can find locally, I doubt the brand makes any difference whatsoever (especially for what you are looking to do).

This or the tour x if your a ProV1x player.  Or the Vice pro plus.  Like me, you may decide you don’t need to buy those ProV1x for your regular rounds either.  They really do compare very favorably

If you’re looking for very cheap with great distance and no other factors, the Noodle “easy distance” golf ball is one you might consider. Playing alone, I found one last week. I decided to hit it and it was crazy long off the driver and the irons.
