What driver stayed in the bag ‘23

We are heading into summer, This year has been a fantastic year for Driver releases.

who’s still in the honeymoon phase with their driver, who has switched back to old faithful and who has gone through multiple new drivers this season.

reply with the driver you bought and whether or not you still love it and or gaming it.

I’m gaming the Paradym TD 9 degree. N/S setting, 10/10 weights front and back. Tensei Blue S 50 at 44.25 total length.

Best driver I’ve ever played. Shaft weight and specs are different than I normally play. I’m usually a low spin, low flight around 70g but for whatever reason, the Tensei blue eliminated those dreaded pull hooks.  Shout out to the White Plains PGA Store who fit me.

played the Ping 430LST with Kai’li white for 2 rounds and did not get along with it.

I purchased my Cally Rogue ST max last October from the demo pool of the sales representatives. It came with a Tensei blue stock shaft that I did switch out to a GD AD DI 5s but this one had an crash during airport transport. The head did stay, the new shaft is a OBAN Kiyoshi white 55 and it will stay a while if it not crashes again.

i did. try the Paradym at the demo day and the sales representatives told me to stay with the Rogue

Finally retired the Ping G400 after buying new years ago. Played 500+ rds on it and since I only hit 95-100 mph no face caves, cracks or other happenings like some of you big bangers. Demo'd all the major OEM's this spring and the G430 SFT 10.5 (RDX 50) won. Really, really liked the Stealth2 but my occasional push didn't find the fairway like with the Ping. Probably stay in the bag until the G460 (?) comes out in 3-4 years.

Scratch playing son is sticking with his Ping G Max 400 one more year he said.

Guess he doesn't get tired of seeing 280-300 yr drives in the fairway every rd.

Still plays the Aldila Extorsion shaft in it. Lot of great drivers out there this year.

Early Spring went to TSR2 10degree, C1, +13gm weight, Ventus TR Black 6X playing just under 45", Iomic Over with 4 lower hand build up wraps. Completed Howards DIY Driver Tune Up to settle on this build.

Never driven the ball better in my life - no chance I move until I see significant drop off in performance.

This year I went through the Stealth 2 / TSR2/ TSR3 / 430 LST9* / 430 LST 10* / 430 Max 9* / Paradaym 9* / Paradaym 3D 9* / Paradym 3D 10.5* / Paradym 9*.

My trusty standby is still the TSi3 9* and the new gamer is the Paradym 3D 10.5*

All the drivers were very good, it basically comes down to control vs distance vs feel, all of the drivers excelled in at least one of these areas or were a combo of all 3.  The 3D 9* was a beast but I could not control it, the TSR3 was good but it was not better than the TS13.  TSR2 felt great and was forgiving but I gave up some distance with the spin, same with 430 Max.  The LST 9* was not better than the 425 LST which was a damn fine club.  The 10.5 LST 430 was very good and felt fantastic but I could not get it high enough....crazy weird how I could elevate the 9* but not the 10.5* and the stock Paradym 9* was good enough that I bought it twice.

For me, it's the G430 LST. I had both the LST head and the Max head -- I can't really explain why, but I hit the LST head more consistently. The flat setting and moveable weight really keeps me from over-cooking it, so swings that would be nasty hooks with most drivers are relatively tight draws with the G430 LST.

In terms of shafts, the Ventus TR Blue 6X that I was fitted into at Fujikura on the GolfWRX members' trip is on the way as we speak. If what we saw in the fitting holds true, it'll lift the launch and spin a touch and give me a little extra ball speed. I'm hitting driver better right now than I was on that trip, so I'm looking forward to testing and will post the data in that thread once it arrives.

I thought it was the Stealth 2+ until I had my 2nd face break.

I’m playing the Paradym TD with Ventus TR Blue 6-TX now and couldn’t be happier.

Got the TSR1 at release and so far it's outlasted al the others.  I did make a shaft change from the stock Aldila Ascent to a GD DI 5, and that was after a fitting session with the Titleist Rep.

I have also had in play this year,  TSR2,  Paradym, G430 Max, Cobra Aerojet LS (50th year Addition) Sub 70 849.

The G430 has been the closest next best thing but the TSR is just a can't miss type club.  I have actually been through more shafts than drivers,  probably 5 shafts with the two Titleist drivers, 3 shafts with the PING, two with the Paradym and two with the Cobra.

Same as the last few years..ST190 w AD DI shaft.

Tried all the new offerings this year and the only thing that came close to replacing it was the TSR line.

While the entire line is great, the difference in performance vs my ST190 wasn't enough to justify the price.

I was close to getting a Stealth 2+.  My drives have been spinny as of late and my ball striking has been erratic with driver.  As a last ditch effort I swapped the shaft in my G410 plus from a Ventus Blue 6TX untipped to a Ventus Black 6X tipped an inch, set at 9° on a 10.5° head.  Weight is currently in the draw position.  Spin down, dispersion tighter, ball striking improved.  Gained about 10-15 yards.  The G410 plus lives another season.  haha

Sim 2 got beat out by Epic Max Ls, then got the Rogue Max LS paired with Tensei 1K White.  I was convinced this was the best driver I've ever played.  Then along came Paradym TD 9* and once I got the shaft dialed (Ventus TR Red) it beat out Rogue by a good bit.  For years I was a low low guy with 8* heads.  Since PTD is such a low spin head, pairing it with a higher launching/spinning shaft was the ticket to the best drives I've ever hit.  Truth is, I've also gotten better as a player.
