Gosh that's tough. By all accounts is one of the good guys. Hoping surgery goes well & he makes a full recovery.

Oh man. I hope all goes well and he has a quick recovery.  Remember when JB Holmes had brain surgery too and I think it turned out well but I can’t remember if it affected his golf but assume yes since he doesn’t play on tour anymore. Hope that doesn’t happen to woodland.

You kind of wish they said they got all of it rather than most of it.

My mom had a brain tumor removed. Depending on where it is in the brain, they can’t remove it all. And even sometimes when they think they might have completely removed the tumor, it’s not always certain because some brain tumors branch out like spider legs and they can’t detect the very ends of the spread. Unfortunately the brain is not the type of organ where you can go and cut out a large area around the tumor to be sure you get everything.

Know someone that had a benign brain tumor and docs went in and were surprised/unprepared for what they found. (You wonder how that could happen but I'm not a brain surgeon). They did what they could and closed up. Had to go *back in* another time, months later. Fortunately, this was a few years ago now and it seems to have worked out in the end.

My wife was diagnosed with brain cancer in '19 with surgery in early '20.

 

Hers was slower-growing, but they can never get it all because it would do too much damage.

 

They will then do chemo or even radiation if needed to try to get what is left.

 

We were told that they can never get it all, and at some point it would return.

 

Odd that it was described as a 'lesion,' so maybe he'll have a better outcome.

That's sad to hear as I hope your Wife can beat this and that goes for Gary too, Prayers go out to you and your family and to everyone else out there that are going thru this battle

Article on Golf.com with an update on Woodland. He posted a video on Instagram of him hitting a ball. His statement.

 

“This journey has been very hard but I’m extremely thankful to be progressing and for the unconditional love and support from everyone,” Woodland wrote on Instagram. “You’ve all made this process a little easier for me and my family. Thank you to everyone and I look forward to seeing you all next year.”

Woodland's chip from the green par on 17 at Pebble enroute to winning the US Open is the most underrated and underappreciated golf shots of all time.

He was in attendance last night at the United Center in Chicago, watching Kansas playing Kentucky. They showed him for a bit, looks a little older and grayer. Jay Bilas had some nice things to say about him. Prayers go out to him. My niece just passed after being diagnosed with a brain blastoma 17 years ago. Surgeries radiation chemo just slowed it down, never eradicated it.
