In case folks were curious. Kept the 2g front weight and changed the back weight to 7g from the standard 14g. Then added 3.5g of lead tape each on the back toe and heel to make it ultra forgiving and back to the 14g total rear weight. It also changed the sound as it’s a little muted. 

Just got mine earlier this afternoon.  Paired it with a VF.  Can't wait to take her out for a spin tomorrow.

Are you talking heavier weight in the front in the Ai Max head? What weight did you use and how much did it drop spin?

Paradym TD. I went with 6 in front and 14 in back because I play at 44.5”. Getting spin from 1600-1900 on average with 12-14* launch angle.

Awesome dude. I have a VF also but haven’t tried in with the TD. Ventus TR Red is doing its thing right now.  I’m sure you will have a huge grin after tomorrow

‘24 Ventus Blue will be available in Callaway woods from 29 Feb. might even be able to pre-order now, but not certain of that.

Played the ai Max / VF 6s today on a familiar Course and with the same folks as usual, after lofting up to 12.5 I hit many drives well over 250 yds total which is much longer than the Paradym TD I played all last summer. 

With the Paradym TD I would normally out drive the others by 10 yds or so, today it was 25+ juat amazing.

Now it was not all unicorns and a sloppy miss was terrible, high right or low left. But that is crappy swing related not the Equipment.

 

Now I need new wedges, those beautiful long drives were wasted for the most part with terrible wedge play. Stupid game....

Can back that up. I asked @JohnnyDub that exact question on Instagram a week or two ago and that’s what he said. This year’s Smoke blue and the new Ventus shade are gonna look great together. A Smoke TD 3W with a Ventus Blue 7S might be in my future.

After one round and a range session I can say that the AI smoke TD is giving me nearly identical numbers to last year's OG Paradym.  No surprise there as I saw the same thing when I tested it before it's release.  However, there's one huge difference.  Misses off the toe don't drop in spin as much which makes mishits there much more playable.  Also, there isn't a huge drop off in ball speed on heel strikes as well.  I also like the way it looks at setup with the toned down gray carbon crown.

I have a TD Smoke en route now. Took longer than expected for the build (with a VF)… and now am swinging another quite well. Now, to fight the urge to hit it and just go ahead and make it available for WRX!

I have never owned a Callaway product before. Not because I don't think they make a quality product just never was best fit. Have had a TSR2 since release and have been generally happy however, I am swinging differently and spin has kicked up to a point I am losing distance and have a high right spinny miss I hate. 

Went to hit new G430 Max 10K and just wasn't for me, hit Darkspeed and thought it was fine but not a massive improvement. Qi10 is a big improvement over Stealth and hit some huge drives but misses were really bad. Then i hit the Callaway Max... Have never been so impressed with a first reaction. Went with Tensei Blue but quickly realized launch was too high and as well as spin. Enter the Denali Black shaft and think this thing is a winner especially as a stock offering. May upgrade to a different shaft at some point but want to see how this goes. Tried the TD and didn't see enough gains to forego the extra forgiveness, personally, over the Max version especially lofted down to 8 degrees. Excited to see how it performs when I get out next.

I've perhaps noticed that trend in the YouTube reviews, which would be a pity because the Callaway Max models in recent years have done a very good job of being almost as fast as the low spin models.

Smoke TD Monster mode 🐲

6g forward and 12g rear paired with VF is a killer combo.  I put a very fast move on the ball during transition and that little extra head weight I can feel and time really well.  What a great driver Cally put out this year.  There was a lot of hate in the beginning because of the wild sole design but I think it's aged well and the performance sort of speaks for itself.

It was good.  7/14 FIR which is average for me.  Played Dad Miller which has a lot of holes that dog leg left so I was hitting draws all day.  I find it harder to cut the ball with this setup.  Probably has more to do with the shaft though.  Hit one foul ball out to the right which was a 20 yard push into the trees.

I will probably need some additional weights to get to my ideal SW for the other shafts I have lying around that I want to test out. May I ask where you bought the additional weights?

I got them on eBay, think they were 12 a piece.  They specialize in after-market weights. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174777649615

For whatever silly arbitrary reason, I have always avoided Callaway, but in the last 6ish months something changed. Hit the Paradym Ai Smoke TD and it just worked so well with the heavier weight in the back and playing at 10.5*, going into a 45” Ventus TR Blue 6S. Can’t believe I’ll be starting the season in a cally driver but these things are the real deal. 
 

On top of Ai Smoke TD, I absolutely fell in love with the UW and added a 17* to the bag in the fall, along with an Odyssey AI milled 7 T DB as a mallet option when my gamer putter has forsaken me. 
 

Bottom line, Callaway has been on a tear with these recent releases, and completely flipped my perception on the company.

That's how I felt since the Epic Speed.  The Rogue ST Max was the only release that just didn't work for me (left going left).

 

Took mine out for the first round of the season and was able to get a round in last weekend (first since Christmas) and was impressed by the performance on a day with zero rollout and soggy fairways Had 10/14 fairways and purposely hit more drivers off the tee than I normally would have.  So far a good result.  Have another round planned for Monday, but there's no real chance of playing with the snow we got yesterday.

 

Nothing like those early season rounds where iron strikes can be described as "mushy".

Yep.  Noticed much the same.   9* was not in a manageable launch and spin window.  I've gamed 8* drivers for years and I was dipping to 1500rpms with that  9* TD Smoke head.  I'm not going to manipulate my swing to get ideal launch conditions.  10.5 has been money and spin lives in the 2000-2200 range.
