For wedges, do people have each wedge from same make/model, or totally different make/model for each?

Mizuno T22’s for my 50 and 54

Vokey T Grind for my lob because it’s the most versatile grind I’ve ever owned for greenside shots.

I have always used a mix. The pro's are you get a consistent feel between the different wedges by using the same brand. The cons are that you may not find the best wedge grind for you in the single model you chose.

My approach is usually:

PW - something aligned with your irons is always good.

GW/SW - Something you like to hit full, but the grind accommodates chipping

LW - chipping and bunkers are the priority

You can mix grinds to have high bounce in a SW and low bounce in a LW. I have always down mid-bounce LW and high bounce SW and that works best for me. See if you can find a place to hit chip shots with multiple styles of wedges and has an expert to coach you through what feels right.

I have Mizuno S23 52 and 56 degree. I use these for conventional chipping around the greens. The Vokey TVD 60-08 M is used when I'm in the deep rough or need to elevate the ball and stop on a dime.

I've always been a fan of the M grind for my lob wedge. If my ball is in a divot I can hood the face and dig it out. If I need to flop a shot l can open it up and pop it up with lots of spin.

l Iike the Mizuno S23's so much I'm going to purchase a 60 degree just to see how it performs. The S23 are game changers for me.

I've been practicing with a 52* Callaway, a 54* Mizuno, and a 56* Vokey.  No trouble switching between wedges.

I swing high lofted lob shots, flighted wedge shots, and toe down shots out of the rough.

Today I practiced downhilll lob shots from the rough.  It is tricky to hit the edge of the fringe and have the ball trickle onto the green when you are short sided to the pin as well!

All the same at the moment, unless you count the set PW. I have played with a set GW in the past but took it out of the bag due to gapping issues. I tend to keep the same brand throughout as I am a bit OCD and enjoy having the same finish and shaping throughout the bag. No big deal mixing and matching wedges though, especially if you find a grind that you prefer from a particular company. Quite a few pros seem to use the Vokey T grind in the lob wedge even if they aren't using Vokeys throughout the bag.

My new T100 iron set is 3-9i, plus SM10 F46.10 PW, SM10 F52.12 and SM10 T58.4.  That said, sometimes I swap out SM10 PW for set PW, but that's about has willy-nilly as I get.

Including my PW I carry 4 wedges and they're all different manufacturers.  I just like what I like and I'm not tied to any brand.  I've played matching wedges in the past but I'm really satisfied with what's in the bag at the moment.  I just don't see any advantage in playing a wedge I don't like as much just to have a matching set.

Right now it’s a Mizuno set PW, Callaway Jaw 52 (bent to 51), and Callaway PM Grind 58.  Not entirely sure how this evolved—couldn’t tell you anything about their bounce or sole relief—but they’re obviously all very different animals and they work.  🤷🏻‍♂️

Only two that match are my 56 and 60, which are both MG2 TW Grinds - however I rarely carry the 60 as I get better results by opening up the 56. They're joined by:

VR Pro PW (47 degrees)

Nike SV 52-08 with lots of lead tape

All with different grips on them as well.

I'm not too bothered if they don't match as long as I know what each one will do, which is where I'm at currently. I might replace the 52 as it's got a different shaft in from the others (DG S200 Standard length Vs DG S400 TI half an inch (quarter in the MG2s) long. However I'm still getting good results with it out on the course so no rush.

I play 50/54/58 and generally only the 50/54 will match. I try to find something a bit more versatile for the 58*.

Was playing Clevelands in 50/54 and a Callaway in the 58*.

Now, I've got Glide 4.0s in 50/54 and a Wilson Tour Grind 58*.

I'm not sure you could find two more different wedges between the Glides and the Wilson, but they all serve their purpose.

I have done both in the past couple years. Previously had a Mizuno MP-T5 50° , Taylormade TP 54° ATV, and a Callaway MD2 58° U-Grind. I loved the MP-T5 and MD2 but hated the TP ATV. When I redid my wedges this year, I wanted to move towards a CB wedge for a little more consistency since I don't have as much time to play anymore and I went for the Cleveland CBX Zipcores in a 50°/54°/58° setup. Its nice having a consistent look throughout the wedges especially as I've been playing them more similarly these days. I had a weird gap before because I didn't hit the MP-T5 great on partial shots. I was fine with full swings but pitch shots were rough for me. Now I feel like I can hit all 3 wedges with the same techniques and it works out well. Rather than hitting say a full 54, I'm more comfortable hitting a 75% 50 degree and I have better distance control.

I prefer to have a different 54* and 58* wedge so it is obvious to me which one I am picking as I tend to bring both of them to the green along with my putter.  I know it only takes 2 seconds to look at the bottom of the club, but it's even quicker when I play a black RTX6 that has the normal grooves for my 54 and a copper Hi Toe 3 with full face grooves for my 58.  I can go back and forth between the two brushing the turf knowing which one is in my hand without having to flip the club upside down to check.

My GW is part of my iron set, so even that looks different from my SW.  I do have to double check when I'm deciding between GW and PW, or PW and 9i for chip and run shots though.

If I did go with the same manufacturer and had same groove patterns, I would likely get one in satin and one in black.

I currently have all from one manufacturer, Cleveland, and that's more budget and set makeup more than anything. My pw and aw are from my set Cleveland Launcher xl's, while the 56° is a Cleveland cbx zipcore. When I do throw a 60° in there it's a lazrus. I don't really have preferences for grinds and such for the 2 specialty wedges, just like a little more bounce in the 56°.
