Favorite Grip that isn't Superstroke...

HoosierMizunoHoosierMizuno Members Posts: 3,409 ✭✭✭✭✭✭✭

Trying to put an end to my putter ho tendancies and finding that switching grips 2-3 times a year gives me that new putter feel. yeah, not the best idea to improve putting. I've been through several superstroke grips, and want to give few others a shot.

I putt LHL if that matters, but really just want others opinions on what they play and why and thoughts on other grips you might've tried.

my top choices to try...
1. Sense
2. Flat Cat (original and Tak)
3. Garsen Tour Proto
4. Garsen Max
5. any others...

prefer light <65g or heavy > 90g
counterbalanced?

do you pick your grip weight based on head type or weight. do you care about swing weight?

Same! Slowly converting all my putters to this grip.

My favorite grip is the Pingman pistol grip, great feeling, unfortunately it causes me to get too handsy. I have just discovered the Evnroll Gravity grip and love it, I have installed it on a Evnroll ER3, and now my current putter Odyssey StrokeLab 7; great combination.

For years I would have said Pingman, Iomic, or the old (discontinued) Lamkin pistols. Lately, I've taken a liking to Winn AVS DriTac grips similar to the ones on many new Odyssey's. I don't care about counterbalancing or weight, as long as it's fairly light feeling.

It's telling that some of SuperStroke's latest grips are morphing into pistol shapes. IMO, that shape is just more comfortable.

I’ve found with a 350g head I really like around a 75g grip. At least with Anser style putters. Grip weight seems really personal though since it does change feel.

I love the Iomic Midsize 75g grip. It’s more rounded on the edges than their small grips (which tend to have relatively sharp edges) and are durable. The colored ones mark up a bit but the material holds up. I find it fits my hand similarly to the Lamkin Deep-Etched, which is also a great grip.

I like the Lamkin deep etched, have one on my #7, and its the stock grip on my betti bb8. I prefer the flatso 1.0 on my SC, but for more classic size and shape, I like the Lamkin.

A p2 classic is my fave but I recommend the Maltby paddle if guys tinker and fiddle with grips and putters a ton. Its heavy and big and the price is cheap. I paid a dollar for it and ordered like 15 a year or two ago.

The p2 always puts my hands in a natural position to roll it. I love those grips.

I’m currently on a Superstroke hiatus. I want to love the PINGman pistol but I find that I get more feel from the Winn excel medalist. Plus I like the little bit of tack that it has. I have thrown a standard Winn excel medalist on my Spider Tour Black and my PING Anser Milled. I find that I have more feel and I’m not as wristy as I thought I would be.

    I have a few:
Lamkin Deep Etch - wish the jumbo was a regular option.
JumboMax Mid-Jumbo - Heavy and tacky, 1 use and enjoying it.
P2 React Tour - still working with this one, maybe not idea on a blade but good feel.
Garsen Max - Same as above.

Then I want to try the Sense grip, just need a test subject for it.

Edel round grips made by Pure. I use the 100g grip with a 30g tourlock weight 4 inches down the shaft. No alignment baloney, just a perfectly round grip that makes putting natural, not mechanical.
