What's The Shortest Amount of Time You've Played a Club?

Callaway Epic SZ.

9 holes and 4 shots.

Showed up for a quick 9 holes at a course we rarely play at. They had an Epic SZ in the proshop very cheap and I couldn't resist. The sound I didn't like but could probably have lived with. The fade bias I was neither here nor there on. The way it felt was terrible. I honestly struggled to tell where on the face I'd hit it.

One driving range session.

Was all excited to have my H5 1 iron and sadly disappointed; first time I learned Mizuno did not make a Forged club in an MP line.

^This - but it was 6 balls. Mizzy H5 3 iron a couple weeks ago.

Tore an old scorecard I had in my bag in half and wrote - It's yours, please take it. Left the club and card in the stall I was using and went home.

funny you say this -- i had a mizzy h5 2i and couldn't get rid of it fast enough as well.

I've had some I've never even waggled, let alone swung, let alone hit a ball, let alone made it to the course, let alone made it back to the course 1x, let alone...

Damn. That's full of wrong, isn't it?

Had a set of Taylormade P750 irons, thought I needed a bit more forgiveness so hit these on a demo day and paid a lot of money for them. They came in, I took them to the range, I couldn't feel the heads in my swing and the feel of the face was soft but vague.

Had maybe another range session with them (probably hit three irons out of the set) and I knew these were just not for me, put them up for sale, sold quickly but at quite a bit of a loss.

Used the money to buy another two sets of irons which I have no intention of selling!

Lesson learnt!

3-5 swings

I can concur with this. I attempted to game a Fourteen 58 degree raw lob wedge to replace my Scratch chrome plated 58 degree wedge. It took two holes to have serious doubts with the LW. It took one more swing to say NO! The Scratch LW is just perfect, at least for me. Very, very dependable club and I can generate plenty of spin with it. It isn't going anywhere any time soon. One of these days I will start selling some of my surplus either here or on another site. LOL

For me, 9 holes with a TM M2. But here's a funny true story:

8 years ago, a clubmaker I new lent me a Miura 501CB 6I with KBS tour S shaft for a day. I absolutely loved the club. When I took it back, I asked the price for a set and it was north of $1800.00. I choked and left. Later I found a set, 3i -PW on E bay, exactly to my spec, advertised as 'lightly used' by the seller. After verifying that they were real (the seller put me in touch with his clubmaker) I bought them for $1150. When the set showed up and I opened them, only one club showed signs of ever having been hit, the PW. Another odd thing about the clubs was that the grips were about 2" diameter and untapered. It took me all day to take them off and regrip them. I've gamed this set since, except for the 3i, reshafted them last year in acceptance of getting older, and needing a lighter shaft. Somewhere tfor someone his was probably a record for shortest time.

When I was a Club Pro I went on the Ping Staff during the days of the i3 blade. I got my irons and took them out to the range. I was pumped up so I took the wedge out of the box, took a practice swing and watched the head fly about 20 feet into the air. Went through the rest of the set and the 5 iron head was loose in the box.

I played that set of irons for one practice swing and they sat in my office for the rest of their life and I was back to TM the next year.

Got custom-fit for a set of Nike Vapor Speed irons. When they arrived, I played them for about two months and then went back to my X20 Tours.

It turned out the VS irons were about a half-inch too long for me. 7i on up OK, but 4i-6i sprayed all over the place.

I complained to Nike, but they said sorry, but it was a custom order. The fitter had never sent me an e-mail copy of the fitting order, so I couldn't prove my case of wrong specs.

A 6-foot-1 teenager at our club played VS irons at this stock length, and did OK. I'm only 5-foot-8, and it just didn't work for me. I sold them off on e-bay for less than half of what I paid for them.

2 practice sessions and never saw the course......Odyssey O works 3T.

Dead feel and no distance control.

Putters can go pretty fast.......

Had a Callaway wedge that went back to CPO after a couple of rounds. Turned out it was 1/2" short of standard and got skulled constantly.

18 holes with an Odyssey 7 White Hot RX. I have no idea why I couldn't use that thing but everything was off on every putt. Alignment, speed, feel.

I also had a set of 716 AP2s with KBS shafts in them that felt like I was hitting a block of ice with a crowbar. Those didn't last but a few rounds.

Couple months. Vokey wedges, 52, 58...titliest guy and club pro swore I'd love them. "And you didn't even notice the reg flex shafts. These are perfect for you."

Pieces of crap, fliers, crap pitches, short, long... started losing strokes around the greens, and that ain't my thing. Still have them, in the garage, giving them away. Last straw was a tourney and a hot spot fly the green, chip, miss putt and take double and I threw the 58 at the cart. Immediately went back to ping and Cally x wedge until full fitting for Edel. Never look back.
