I'm not questioning Tiger's short game overall. Because gosh knows it's way better than mine.

 

But I don't understand why he took that stab motion approach on the one that rolled into the water.

 

I felt that way before he even hit it. I know it may have something to do with the grass type, but it was a nice lie. Just play it in the back of your stance and take your normal pitch motion. No need for the stab that doesn't carry the ball far enough.

 

I think the lie was pretty awful, ball was way down there, might have been in a ground impression

Tiger and JT = Tiger will be 2 over after 18 seeing JT swing that fast and try and keep up. JT will be 1 or 2 under. Leader will be 5 under and Tiger will be struggling all weekend to try and fight back. :)

I'm confused by Tiger's length yesterday. He's still playing the heavier/spinnier setup he went to at the end of last season. After moving to that setup he lost 10 or so yards bringing his driver carry down from around 295 earlier in the season with the Tensei closer to around 280-285. And yet yesterday he was consistently blowing it past JT, who was 11th on tour in driving distance? Something doesn't seem to add up. Was he just exhausted at the end of last season, or was he swinging harder yesterday because the fairways or so wide?

He's getting stronger and more consistent with his new golf swing.... exciting season ahead.
