Lol. I sense a business opportunity here:

The "Air Sensitivity Meter". Calibrates your bodies aches, pains and limitations to current wind speed, air temp, pressure and humidity to give you the perfect "end range of motion potential" for each swing you make.

As seen and used by PGA Tour Professional Bryson Dechambeau. 3 easy installments of $29.99. Get yours today and lift your game to new heights.

I think those two get off from saying big words they don’t know the meaning to. Also, Bryson looking to Jordan Spieth for consistency is laughable

Regardless of how he looks, he just hit a drive with 187 ball speed at the Waste Management. Whatever he is doing is working to get his ball speed up.

  • 2 weeks later...

He looks a little trimmer at this week at the Mexico WGC event. Perhaps he has adopted a bulking/cutting routine used by body builders.

Whatever he's doing, his overall strategy seems idiotic. When John Daly brought 'bomb and gouge' to the PGA tour, he succeeded because he had a brilliant wedge game. Bryson doesn't. In fact, he's one of the worst wedge players on tour, currently standing 172nd in approaches from 50 to 125 yards. So all he's accomplishing with his long drives is to call forth the worst club in his bag.

He's 8th in strokes gained off the tee this year and was 24th last year. He is gaining about 3/4 of a shot on the field due solely to his tee game. His relative stats to his peers don't matter as much as improving his proximity to the hole and getting more close putts. From 75-100 his avg prox is 17.5', from 100-125 it's about 21' and from 125-150 it's about 24.5'.

I get it if he had negative strokes gained, but why would you stop doing something that is giving you an advantage over your peers? Being closer to the hole is an advantage, regardless of your skill level against other players. Should he stop hitting it farther so he can have more 25 footish leaves versus being closer and having more 18ish foot leaves?

I get it if he's blowing balls OB or hitting it to places that would hurt his scoring. But his SG off the tee tell otherwise.

Like yesterday on 18 he drove it 360 and had a tough 30 yard chip. He had the worst approach of anyone in his group. I would imagine it’s tough to be precise on short shops with shafts that are stiffer than X7s.

His short game has been pretty average in 2018 and 2019. He makes his money off the tee and on approaches. But he's easily in the top third in short game this year.

I saw the shot yesterday. It wasn't good, but that was the risk based on that pin position. Being able to hit massive drives is a big advantage, but still have to choose when to use that firepower.

I don't have a source for it, but I remember Bryson pulled some sort of back or shoulder muscle last year. At the end of the off-season he even made a comment that he was expecting his new fitness regimen to also make him more resilient to injury. Basically, it seemed like he felt that injury he had earlier in the year was potentially preventable if he addressed some strength issues -- particularly addressing any muscular imbalances he has. Golf is a very one-sided sport, so it's easy to build up muscular imbalances, and muscular imbalances are a very common cause of injury. The guy in Colorado he went to for the fitness specializes in addressing muscular imbalances.

Of course Bryson has been very vocal about wanting to bulk up and hit the ball far with these fitness changes (so I'm sure that's contributing to this) but the comment he made above about building resilience to injury seems to have gotten lost in the public's view and the entire focus has been on him bulking up for more distance -- likely because distance is a lot more intriguing to the public than trying to prevent injury.
