Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

The guys calling placebo are the ones who low-key make it their game ball and not say a word.

I haven't even seen anyone making any crazy claims about the balls anyway. They are just as good as any 4 piece ball at a much lower price point is about what everyone has said. That is certainly my stance with them, not better or worse performance-wise but factor in the cost per ball and these are a clear winner.

To be fair there have been a handful of totally over the top gushing fan-boy "reviews" of the ball. Anyone claiming it's totally as good as a ProV1x or TPX at 1/4 the price I'll believe. But there is literally no way in which the K-Sig can be a whole lot *better* than a ProV1x or TPX (or Chrome Soft or what have you). It's the few guys claiming it's superior who are having issues separating placebo from reality.

I played today with my kirkland balls in northeast Ohio. It was extremely windy with gust up to 20-25 mph. So this was not a great day to test except in windy conditions. The ball performed great. My ball striking was not great today but I had no issues with ballooning in the wind. I really love the feel of this ball off all my clubs and particularly putting. I love the Snell MTB ball as well and this kirkland ball performed for me just as well. For 31.00 dollars for two dozen shipped I'll keep playing the kirkland signature. Like many others, I'm a Costco nut when it comes to their brands. You will not be disappointed with this ball!

It was the same distance for me and its a little softer ball than the MTB, not that the MTB is a bad ball at all! I could play both balls all the time but the price for the kirkland is hard to ignore. Again, today was extremely windy, like a two to three club difference on some holes. On one par three where I normally hit my 6 iron I had to hit a three hybrid. I was pin high. The ball when it hits the green stopped quicker than the MTB ball. But again, that's not a knock on the Snell. I loved the kirkland ball

You're trying to parse words over a $15 product?

Is this $15 product a suitable replacement for a $36 product (which is what Provs cost on sale)? Most are saying "yes/pretty close" with a few saying "no".

Nobody cares if you believe anybody - it's $15 bucks....cheap! :)

Ok, just got my 2 boxes, here's my initial review:

+ Balls arrived super fast, ordered on Sunday and arrived today. Free shipping!

+ Balls feel soft (by hand), feel no different than my Pro V1s.

- Kirkland branded? Same brand as my toilet paper. Couldn't they come up with something better?

- Numbers on balls are tiny, smallest I have ever seen on any ball.

I plan to put these in play within the next few days, will let you all know how it goes. Pro V1 vs Kirkland deathmatch, only one makes it out alive.

After three rounds under my belt and some on course testing I'll give my opinion. I've always been a Pro V1x player. I have tried just about everything else but haven't found anything to make me switch considering all premium balls are just about the same price. In a nutshell I firmly believe there is no performance loss. Based upon the price alone these balls are better.

As often is the case at my club there was nobody on the front nine. I hit two Kirklands and two Pro V1x for four holes. Distance off the tee was identical. Distance with my irons was identical. Full wedge shots scuff both balls, even with my worn wedges. Spin into the greens was identical. Distance with full wedges was a little different. Sometimes Pro V1x zips back too far this didn't happen with the Kirkland, it backed up a couple of feet but not excessive. Spin around the greens was identical. I hit my standard one hop and stop bunker shots with both balls.

For me, if there were no markings on the balls as they are on the ground I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Keep in mind if there was any slight performance advantage with my usual ball I would still play it. My game isn't going to suffer to save a few bucks, but there is not. I am making the switch and am going to save some money in the process.

This guy on Reddit, who is a very good player (and extremely fast swinger) did an in depth review on his home GC2 setup comparing it to lots of balls.

Here is the data: http://imgur.com/a/PUZ22

Here is the thread where he talks more and answers people's questions: https://www.reddit.c...my_gc2_testing/

Hey that's me :) Thanks for sharing in here.

any bad thing about the ball yet?

Other than the smell out the box, and the name... nothing.

Played 18 today with the new K-sig. I have to say it acted like a ProV1x with all the clubs and felt great off the putter. :D

Interesting. Based on the specs that were posted, it looks like it has the slightly softer compression feel of the 'standard' ProV1, but with the extra layer of the V1x.

Now that I typed that, it sounds like the Taylormade TPx

It is very much like the TPx. If you like the TPx, you will like the Kirksig. It's basically a more durable TPx. It blows my mind that this ball can be had for $15/dozen.

Would it not be more like the tour preferred, with 4 layers? The TPX has 5 layers. Or am I missing something?

The construction is a bit different yes, but it performs just like a TPX as far as the data goes. It feels a tiny bit different off the club, but ball speed, launch, ball spin rates etc are all virtually identical. I tested a bunch of balls and the Kirkland was closest to the TPX.

I just ordered 2 dozen to try out. I love the Nike rzn tour platinums and have been gaming them for a while now. Since they will no longer be making those I'm hoping these will feel and play similar. Does anyone have a comparison to the tour plats?

Tour Platinum's spin a tiny bit more and launch a tiny bit lower. For me the Kirkland had about 3-10 yards more distance depending on the club due to the higher launch and lower spin.

I did find the tour platinum's a bit easier to flight low over the kirkland.
