New Ping driver - 2017

Love the look of the G woods, but the sound and feel was so bad I couldn't buy them. Also, the lack of custom no charge shafts is a deal killer. Hopefully they remedy that this year.

Have the G driver with the tour 65 shaft. I have used a friends Epic driver on the course to compare and see what the hype is all about. I thought the Epic was a great driver, had really good feel-distance was pretty similar to what I use now, if it was longer, it was not to the point to get me to change. I have a question for the people with adjustable drivers...do you really meddle with the settings that much? Once you have you driver set the way you like it, how often do you change it? With the product offering of the draw bias, low spin or standard G, what else do you need?

Maybe Ping is coming out with the adjustable to have one club, instead of three choices?

Set it and forget it unless there are some major swing changes. It's set up by a fitter (if you do this right and don't buy off the shelf) it's set up to perform the best for you.

 

The people that constantly change their settings are hurting more than helping. Heck it's rare to see a tour player changing their settings all that often on these clubs.

I'm going back to the G LS Tec, after a month with the Callaway Epic sub zero. I've not seen any distance gain and i'm hitting it okay, the Epic feels very nice, but looks a lot smaller compared to the LS and is less confidence inspiring.

They need to take the 2014 rapture 3 wood and make it a driver. That thing is a monster and it sounds and feels awesome.

 

Maybe my favorite club of all time. Put an Aldila Tour Blue shaft in mine and now I get nice launch off the deck for a 13-degree club, and it's a beast off the tee. I use it more than my G LS Tec (which I also like a like) from the tee box.

IMO the Ping G is still the best driver on the market. I doubt Ping can really do anything to improve it unless they switch to carbon or add adjustability. I think sound and feel are about all you can do these days. All the premium drivers hit the COR limit, and Ping G is still the highest MOI driver out there. I just don't what they could improve on. Maybe there's something fancy they can do with the face technology, but I think we are a few years away from any new "revolutionary" changes in driver tech.

My 2014 Rapture is a beast and I would love if they used the same tech to make a driver. When you take the handcuffs off, those guys at Ping beat everything out there.

I loved the Ping G30 and almost bought one but thought I should wait for the G. I did not like the G near as much, and after testing the Epic it will be hard for Ping to top both forgiveness and distance gains if they don't have something special.

Ping G is already just as good or better than the Epic. They don't have to do anything. Epic just sounds better. Virtually zero difference in performance. Epic is a tad lower spinning, but G is more forgiving.

can't see them adding a ton of adjustability seeing as they held out FOREVER to even add an adjustable hosel. my guess would be turbulators plus more carbon fiber...maybe a slot or internal fixture for ball speed. i mean at this point the oems are simply adding/subtracting one of these tech components with each release, right?

Not quite sure what you're talking about...ping g beat out epic for me with both distance and dispersion.
