Used to play with Vinnie quite a bit but I ended up retiring and moving far away from L.A. Haven't played or seen anyone famous since moving to Southern Oregon though supposedly Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army Of Darkness) lives around here somewhere.

I went to New Orleans for my bachelor party a few years back and played TPC Louisiana the week after the tourney (also during Jazz Fest, good times). Vinnie Jones was in the group ahead of us and we bumped into him in the bar between nines. My buddy and I made some small talk with him and went back out to finish up. As we were leaving, him and his playing partner were sitting in the parking lot with the hood up on their Mercedes trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. Fun day.

Paul was at Olympic a few months ago playing with a lady friend before the Champion's event at Pebble. It was early and I spent twenty minutes on the range talking with him. He was super friendly and very eager to talk with everyone who approached him. I had taken my spot on the range before I noticed that he was right behind me. I noticed hearing about 20 perfect strikes in a row and had to turn around and see who it was. A very nice and totally blue collar kind of guy.

From the sign on the cart I thought I was getting paired up with John Ritter one round in Tucson, but it was a different John Ritter. And I bladed a 9 iron into the back yard of hockey player Wendel Clark's house.

Michael Jordan played in the club championship at a course I used to play regularly outside Chicago. I've run into Mike Modano (Dallas Starts), Tony Romo (Cowboys) and Todd Hamilton (PGA) at a course I used to belong to here in the Dallas area.

I was playing in our local am tournament I think in ‘05 at Saratoga International and Bill Parcells came up to hang out at the tee box. The guy was genuinely friendly. Seemed like he loved being on the course.

I played Muirfield a few years back for a charity outing. I walked into the clubhouse was looking around and saw a man standing there. I game him the normal hi how are you, he did the same. Started walking away and did the slow jaw drop turn when I realized it was Mr. Nicklaus. I think he chuckled a bit. A little bit later I was chipping balls next to him and someone discussing practice green renovation. Very cool experience.

I was on the practice green goofing off after a round once putting 50-60 footers, as I was wrapping up I ended up holing one and I heard someone say "Should have saved that for the course". I turned around and it was Lucas Glover. He looked like he was in a hurry so I didn't get a chance to talk.

 

I stood in line behind John Calipari in a Dunkin Donuts once on the way to the golf course if that counts.

Occasionally, I'd go down my driveway, which was at the top of a long uphill Par 5, to say hello to friends as they were passing by on their way to the next tee. My best ball partner was close friends with Joe Morgan, who lives locally. One day I saw him and Joe coming up the hill from my living room so I went out to say hello and, to my surprise, their third that day was Bill Russell, who is Joe’s good friend. They had time to stay and chat for a few minutes. It was very cool to meet Russell, who was a childhood hero, and to talk a bit. Joe was giving Bill a hard time because he had the hots for his Latina cook and that he was eager to finish so he could eat her cooking that night and chase around after her.

It was the winter of 05-06 and I was in high school, I was hitting balls next to Steve Stricker right before his comeback in the dead of winter in WI.

Didn't realize it was him until his coach, Tiziani, pulled me aside and introduced me. Steve didn't miss a shot the whole time, baby draws with perfect balance the whole time...

Ran into Roy Halladay (Blue Jays) a few times at my home course and John Cena once.

 

Halladay had a few agents with him that stopped anybody from saying hi on the range. I ended up seeing him in the clubhouse and he couldn’t have been nicer.

 

John Cena came out on a day it was pouring down rain with one of his agents. The guy is absolutely huge in person and was smoking a big cigar. It was CPO that day and the guys in the pro shop did Rock Paper Scissors to see who would go out and tell him that

Dr J (Julius Erving), John Smoltz, Larry the Cable Guy, Josh Duhamel, Kelly Rohrbach, Jake Owen. Met them through proams, all extremely nice people who love playing golf.

LPGA player Vicky Hurst. Saw her on the range and just watched in awe as she hit one pure shot after another. My friend I was playing with knew her and chatted with her for a bit. Seemed genuinely nice and was, at the time, working on some rehab post an injury.

 

Vicky is super nice! We used to practice at the same club when I was in college, she's got some serious game too hope she gets better!
