Which shoes are best for wide feet?

Recommended Posts

Count me in the Footjoy group. I wear EEE width and never have had bad luck when fitted into the right shoe in their classic and tour dry models.

Try True Linkswear...the whole premise of them is wider toe boxes in their shoes. I walked 36 a day at Bandon for three days and they were great. Use code Foley10 for 15% off.

The older True Linkswear (the 1st launch and up to 2-3 seasons ago) were seriously the widest toe box shoes you would ever find/see. Unfortunatelly, as most of us have noticed, they have begun to go the "narrow-er" sizing, as I'm guessing, to be on par with the rest of the shoe sizing industry.

Hey guys,

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I have wide feet and am finding it hard to find good shoes. Want to go spikeless this time around. As a reference, I'm coming from the TW 14 which were the best shoes I've owned. I walk all the time, 3-4 rounds per week, and course is often quite wet or moist. Thanks.

Saw this post and thought I wrote it. Looking for a new pair of shoes and currently own TW14s wides also. Actually have considered buying another pair of them but good to have some options.

Lol. I went with the Ecco Biom 3 hybrids based on the love here. Just don't know if my size will be correct as EU runs kind of odd with American sizing.

I also ordered them based off of reviews on here and the crazy good 30% discount on shoes.com. I'll be receiving them next week and will report back how they fit compared to my TWs.

Following up after my 1st round, I love love these Eccos Biom 3 Hybrids! I feel comfortable over the ball and the balance and grip are solid. I had one minor foot slip after contact on a 4 iron I hit. Hit 9/9 GIR and 7/7 FIR on my first 9 holes and fired a 33(-3) which is my lowest 9 holes of the year. Also, doesn't feel like I needed a break-in period as these are incredibly comfortable right out of the box. In summary, can't recommend these enough.

Ok, I HAVE to chime in... I own ECCO Bioms and love them! Buuuuut, those who are saying they are best for the widest of feet, must not have tried True Linkswear! I switch between the Bioms and True Protos and there is NO comparison. Seriously, I’m not big and using CAPS for emphasis but the True are THE widest shoes I have ever worn. I look like Ronald freakin’ McDonald every time I put them on. So very comfortable, however. Both are good but the True is so, so much wider.

*Obviously, I didn’t read the entire thread. The True has now been mentioned.

I have nothing but problems with shoes for golf. I wear a 13 4E, or 12 4E depending on the brand. Super wide forefoot.

Nike/Puma: Don't even bother.

Adidas: I can fit my foot into some 13W's, the original Boost and Boost 2. Not ideal, but comfortable enough to walk a course. Currently what I'm wearing.

Ecco: Everybody loves these, but I find that while I can get them on, they're super uncomfortable and have a lot of hot points. Never heard about taking out the insole, though...

True: Dunno if they've fixed their quality problems. Only shoes I could wear for awhile until Golf Town in Canada stopped selling them and then I ordered them directly from the company. Three pairs of shoes fell apart in the same place after less than 6 months of use.

Sketchers: Nope.

New Balance: My buddy has wide, flat feet, but they're a tad smaller. He has a pair that fit okay, but the tongue fell off of one shoe.

FootJoy: Whoever designs their shoes needs to be shot. Ugly. Some of them fit "okay" but aren't worth buying because they're not comfortable enough, and again, they're so ugly.

It's nothing but a hassle for people with big and wide feet.

I wore Eccos before True Linkswear and eventually got to the point where it bugged the heck out of me that my feet were wider than the sole. Nice shoes, well made and would stretch out to be big enough, but they weren't truly designed for the 4E foot.

I'm only about six rounds in but the new True Linkswear shoes feel like a big step forward in quality. They also seem to be a hair narrower, though. Pretty sure that's what I'll be wearing for the forseeable future.

I also have wide feet...used to wear the TW 14s too and they were great but nike has since gotten narrower. I just ordered the explorer 2 from nike because it was the only 14wide I could find. I'll let you know how they feel

Hi,

all of a sudden serious issues with shoes now, feet getting wider and longer. Gone from 10.5 to 11-11.5 in a year or so.

I have tried New Balance NBG1004 11 2E, which were good in length but not wide enough, and NBG518 11 4E, plenty long but still not wide enough.

Even tried New Balance gymshoes MX624 in 11.5 4E just to have a pair of shoes I could wear without pain, same issue with those.

I have Ecco Biom Hybrid 2 in size 12, will check if I can remove insole as suggested.

Curious if anyone browsing this forum has any experience of these shoes:

* Nike FI Impact 3 in wide

* Skechers Go Golf Elite V3 wide/extra wide

Or if any suggestions of other models to look have a look at? All help much appreciated!

I walk, so getting a shoe that fits is important. The thing is that even within a brand each model can be built on a different last. They can change from year to year so you have to get pretty specific about which make and model you get. Too narrow is no good, but too wide is almost as bad.

I had good luck with footjoy and the contour last and the last that the hyperflex is built on. They hyperflex fits in a half size smaller than the contour. Footjoy tells you which last the model is built from which helps narrow down the models that might fit well.

I might have to check out ECCO again. Last I looked, in stock models were not available in wide.

Not sure that other manufacturers provide the specifics about which lasts are used to make the different models.

I found shoes that fit in Nike, but quality control was lacking. Walking does put a lot more stress on shoes and shows problems that you'd never see riding.

Thanks, did not now about the last until now, I will check out the Contour fit and see how it works......

If it helps anyone with similar issues, please see my findings below after todays shoeshopping.

* Ecco Biom Hybrid 3

- 45/11.5 works with top insole removed 46/12.5 would be a bit too long but OK

* Adidas Poweband Boa Boost WD

- size 12 just a bit too long, 11.5 close call, since it is not leather they will not expand much

* Footjoy Contour Fit

- 10 W was not wide enough, no XW available, but doubt it would work for me

* Nike FI Impact 3

- only 12 medium available, the wide model would most likely work

Finally Found a pair of Impact 2 on sale for approx. 90 dollars in size 12 M, they were superwide,

but about 1/2" too long, but with my limited options I can live that.

The Adidas boost 2 wide series fit my feet well. The toe box of the original boost was too narrow but they fixed that with the boost 2.

adidas has always been way too narrow for me, but I keep hearing such good things about the boost series

is the wide pretty generous?

Depends on how wide you need, I’m a 3E and they aren’t anywhere near wide enough.

Yup, that's me

Kinda figured, adidas has always been a no go for me because of that, and nike as well to a certain degree

No, the Adidas wides are not a really generous wide shoe. Probably a 2E. They just fit my wide feet in the right places I suppose. The NB and FJ shoes I’ve had in the past have had more width. Those are not as good a fit for me or as durable as the Adidas.
