Need to wind to kick up tomorrow to keep things interesting. I'll write Schauffle off simply for being the first time he'll be in the last group at a major. I'll be pretty surprised if Spieth doesn't hold on, but I think he's also the most susceptible to blow up among he and Kisner because he can start over turning it and that can be deadly on some of these holes. I hate golf coverage now. Spieth (the biggest name on the board) is one back.. hits it into death on 12.. and they don't show his next shot. Didn't even show it on tape. Might be one of the best up and downs in the history of The Open for all we know.

Honestly I can't see anyone from the -5 group winning this. Just too far back. The winner is going to come from the -9 group and my money is on Spieth. Kisner will melt down like he did at the PGA. Schauffele will shoot a couple under, but Spieth wins it. Possibly a playoff.

I am reminded of the final round of the 2002 U.S. Open at Bethpage. Tiger was at -5 and had a four stroke lead over Sergio Garcia, with my favorite player, Phil Mickelson, five back.

 

Tiger three-putted his first two holes while Phil scored an early birdie to pull within just two strokes, and the game was on. :)

 

Anything can happen in these high pressure final rounds, and something unexpected usually does.

But I could certainly see him winning it. Most of those above him don’t have major experience, and we know JS is capable of a stinker.

Everyone in the history of golf is capable of a stinker. That includes all timers such and Tiger, Jack, and the rest.

 

Spieth doesn't have any particular propensity to choke. He is actually incredibly clutch. I'd be surprised if he had some kind of meltdown, although its certainly possible.

 

If Tiger and Rory have it going tomorrow, this is shaping up to be an all time great one.
