Yes....... still have one (just in case....), still goes for miles, still sounds great (although it's been replaced by an also good sounding Mizuno 611).

 

 

 

 

Worst I ever heard ( aper ftom the obnoxious sounding square Nike things from years ago) was some kind of Callaway carbon headed driver (C4 maybe? not sure...) - was being used by a guy who regularly used Epon or other nice Japanese drivers etc but one day turned up with this awful thing... when he hit his drive I thought he's broken it or left the headcover on. He admitted his regular playing partners had offered to pay him to stop using it as the sound was so bad.

Yeah, but if you want to go all the way back to TM's R500 Series, be advised that the R500 Tour Driver (325cc) sounds even better than the (390cc) R510TP.

For years I've played a driver -- to remain unnamed -- that feels fine to me but the sound at impact is... let's say... a bit "unique." Whenever I see/hear somebody else hit this model driver, I can't help but think "Man, that noise is brutal." So here's my question: what's the Best-Sounding Driver Of All-Time? Let's try and keep "sound" completely different from "feel," even though we all know that these sensations go hand-in-hand.

 

We're not talking about Longest, Most Forgiving, Best-Looking or Most Adjustable... just best-sounding. This includes how the driver sounds when YOU hit it as well as the noise you hear when smacked by someone else. I'm no expert but I've always thought that late-model Titleist drivers had a nice muted "pop," not too loud or harsh.

 

Your thoughts? Which driver and WHY.

Not true. I have a J33 with hotmelt that makes a thud sound and feels dead. I also have a regular one that sounds like an aluminum bat. Very disappointing since many have said it was the bigger brother to the R510TP. Looks, yes...sound, not even close.

I demoed an M3 on a cooler day and it sounded awful. Ended up getting fit for one, added some hot melt and it’s the best sounding, feeling driver I’ve ever gamed!

I have a G400 as a backup. Great driver, but whoever started calling it muted has no idea of what muted is. It's not a ballpein hammer on a tin shed, but definitely no where near muted.

If I had to carry a buy a driver for sound only, I'd pick the best performing driver and alter its acoustic properties (hot melt or cotton balls) to suit. I'm one of those that, unless it sounds like an empty coffee can like those dreadful square-headed drivers, sound isn't a big factor.
