New callaway driver “mavrik” (Pics added Page 8)

Recommended Posts

The name “Mavrik” is really bad too. It sounds cheap and low end. I assume the stupid spelling is to help with google search results?

I actually like orange as a color on gear if it’s done well, but that iron isn’t done well. It looks the like the cheapest low end iron of any brand I’ve seen lately. I don’t expect GI irons to look like Apex, but these are way worse than the Steelhead or XR irons from the last few years.

I agree, I will say the new cobra driver with the way it looks is going to be a big hit. It is a nice improvement over the F9. Which was a great driver as well.

It’s a play on the new top gun movie coming.

Naming aside, got to see all the new toys last night. Love the concept on the engineering and the shapes are very solid. New irons look better in person vs photos, colors aren't as meh. I am not an orange fan necessarily, but nothing about them screams at me at address. Did hit the new super hybrid and it was a MONSTER...will replace a lot of driving irons for sure.

There were no photos so don't ask.

He got to play it (he's signed with callaway) and he said it was stupid long....but non conforming. Callaway is having to slow them down before full release.

Agreed. Cannot imagine anyone putting them in the bag. Horrible looking.

This is why i love titleist. All of their stuff looks great. They are never too bold or have crazy color scheme. They stick w bacis colors. Sometimes its important to look down at something and feeling confident.

They are a ball company first and clubs have always been second. They are doing pretty good in balls, shoes, gloves. They had a really good run with ts launch as well.

That is going to down now since Harry left. I know your club is all Callaway but don't be shocked when TaylorMade regains the top spot in 2-3 years.

I came off a bit harsh. I like Titleist stuff. They make good clubs. Honestly every major brand does. Titleist has an awesome staff at headquarters and their attention to detail and quality control is second to none. I fit non biased and Callaway isn’t even my top seller this year.....

But my point is people are buying their stuff so they are doing something right.

Who is this line geared towards? Everyone? Higher handicaps?

Everyone. They have three models. A standard, a high launch draw and a subzero low spin model. You will see tour pros I am sure play the SZ. I wouldn’t doubt if you see later triple diamond heads etc. I don’t know if they exist and I am speculating but those did so well with the flash I wouldn’t count them out.

This line is a higher MOI head geared towards forgiveness over all. There are no sliding weights so they are simpler in that sense, but high handicaps to major winners will and can play this head.
