I am a bit of a Bryson fan. As hard as that may be. But, he has said some stupid things lately regarding this weight thing. He posted the other day that he is up 17 pounds and that most if it is muscle. Anyone that has ever been interested in fitness and training and lifting weights knows it is IMPOSSIBLE to gain 17 pounds of muscle as fast as he is thinking he did. Heck if you gain 2-3 pounds of muscle in 6 months you are outpacing almost everyone not on steroids.

Not even on steroids can you gain 17 pounds of muscle in what? 3-4 months?

Yeah, but he really has gotten bigger and also hits it further. It does seem to have worked. Just not translating to wins.

If he played at a decent clip I'd probably really enjoy observing his shtick and rooting for him. He's definitely a WWE bad guy for me in his current form.

I’d say multiple things are true at the same time:

1- is this his shtick?

2- does he believe in what he’s doing?

3- does he intentionally play it up?

4- is it working?

for me it’s yes to all four questions. I think Bryson wholeheartedly believes in what he’s doing 100%. He probably plays it up along the way but I think he still truly believes in his method.

Doubt he’s gained a ton of lean mass although I’m sure he’s gained some. Either way he’s in the low 200s now ball speed. Seems to be working.

I want to know how straight he can hit it.

I completely agree. I just know he likes to play the smart guy all the time. Sometimes he does thing to sabotage that for himself. If his ball speeds are accurate then it’s awesome. I hope it translates to success.

Yeah it's confusing for me, especially since strokes gained makes sense to me. Is it his iron distance control? I'd say for someone to gain a lot of distance, even a pro, that would be the biggest detriment as they are normally super consistent on strike and can hit certain favorite distances.

As I said in the first post when I saw Bryson gaining so much weight - if you want to be a good golfer, there is no way you will find that success in the gym! Fit sure, but gains like this no way.

Looking at Bryson being crushed missing the cut in Abu Dhabi now, the swing is totally of, he lost his smoothness and simple things like bunker shots and chips he looks stiff like hell. 110th place at the moment.

I think just give him time. He'll need to readjust to the new power. Getting stronger is a weird thing to the golf swing. But long term it's a good think IMO.

It all made for some fantastic viewing this morning. The commentators this morning were talking about it at some length. All former Tour Pro’s and they mentioned that they were aware of guys having gained about 10 yards or so and being able to sustain it and improve their game. They were not able to think of anyone who had tried to gain 30 yards or more and who didn’t fall of the face of the planet. The prime example being Matteo Manassero.
