The article doesn't really say what her role will be, so I guess I have to reserve judgment a bit.

I hope she succeeds.

I haven't seen anything (really, not one thing) in her interviews, her previous TV presence, her time with Feherty, you name it, to suggest I should be optimistic about that.

I like Michelle Wie, but I don't think she is suited to be an on-air talent.

They should first try to get known actual players, like Brad Faxon, Billy Andrade or Paul Goydos.

That doesn't work, they should get other players not in the tournament; just listened to NLU and Harry Higgs would make a great announcer. Or get LPGA tour players who are good announcers, maybe Christie Kerr, Annika, I'd even let Lorena spin one.

If that doesn't work, get the NLU guys.

Michelle is a very kind, intelligent, and sweet girl that has a good relationship with many players and will grow into her respective role like Amanda Balionis has done, personally think this could be a very good move and I wish her the best.

You recommend old guys that won’t bring in the younger demographic. Goydos is a good talker, but no one knows who he is. Faxon is getting paid what CBS guys get for a lot less work.

Wie has won a major and knows as much golf as the other women you mentioned. She’s attractive and accomplished and popular. I don’t see why she’s a bad pick.

Have to disagree that adding Wie in some capacity will "bring in" any viewers overall - people tune in to watch The Masters because of what it is. People will watch The Masters in spite of certain broadcasters already, lol.

Let's not go slap a "gold seal of approval" on a move like this without considering why CBS asked her to do this. It could be that CBS is trying to add some "iridescence" or "flavor" to the Masters. I think this Michelle Wie thing is nothing more than an experiment. We will know how good she is received if we see her again in 2021.

I know this was an emotional day for her but up until the emotions caught up with her... count the um's and ya know's and tell me again how she has improved in front of the mic.

I like Michele but seriously, um, ya know.

That said I am sure she can and will improve. Easing her into a potential announcing career by featuring her in a few events is a nice way to let her try, see if she is interested and has the ability to do so.

You indicated she will be a "broadcaster" - I'm not sure that is all that clear. There is a lot left to the imagination with "multimedia" and vague role at this point.

Very true. I was simply stating that it is not just a masters gig. I am also keeping my expectations low while at the same time being happy for a bit of change. Will she make anyone tune into something that they were not already going to watch? No, not at all. But I still think the potential for fresh air is good. If nothing else its a risk worth taking and if she flames out she flames out. No biggie.

Got it. Again I hope she succeeds at whatever they come up with for her to do. My speculation at this point is it will be more related to streaming or some kind of webcast stuff, or some "features" that may or may not be part of the regular broadcast, otherwise I'd think they'd say what she will be up to. I'm sure her parents will study all her scripts and coach her presentations.

There’s nothing racist or sexist about it. It’s a fact that older, white men are traditionally the commentators in tour broadcasts. I’m advocating to switch it up a bit. You all complain about tour broadcasts anyways. People on this forum seem to hate PGA Tour broadcasts yet advocate to keep the same kind of commentators. It’s bizarre actually.
