Tons of retired golfers out there playing WAY, WAY more than they ever played during their working years - that is a fact. Many play more the first couple years they are retired than in 10-20 years previous. The hard cores are still the hard cores, but they aren't the "average" or even the typical.

Nope. My comparison was more inline than you want to believe. Both examples are at the top of the heap for that field. Masters telecast certainly is top notch for golf commentary. To just randomly start doing it as your first commentator gig is pretty unheard of.

 

Maybe you prefer the analogy of getting a car at age 13 after someone tells you how to operate it , and getting to drive it until you’re old enough for license?

 

Again. I’m not arguing that she shouldn’t have the job , or that she can’t do it well. Only time will tell that. What I am saying is that such an appointment seems pretty unprecedented to me. I can’t recall anyone getting the super bowl or World Series or network nightly news anchor chair as their first commentary job.

i completely agree with you. My only question is that will the master be her first appearance? I do not remember reading that anywhere. Just that she would be part of the masters. Maybe there is time to get prepared or crash and burn and not be included. I honestly do not know the answer to that question.

It's not that people explicitly want others out of golf, their unwillingness to change by default largely repels newcomers. You boast about being an "insider", so it's obvious why you cannot see how the sport is viewed from the outside looking in

Yeah, I think TV coverage shows too much putting. Putts are good to watch when they have more meaning like in the final round, but it would be nice if they balanced it out with more chipping, irons, and drives.
