Sorry if it's already been mentioned here... can you say whether or not Ping will introduce a 3W with a moveable tungsten like the driver?

It’s been a few weeks since I saw them. But I want to say 99% no on that.

damn...

Either way, sick set up man! I play SIM driver and 3 wood, but not really loyal to any particular brand and have heard nothing but good things about Ping, especially their long clubs.

Really tempted to switch to these next year.

I for sure will be getting the Max fairway with hot melt of about 4g - it will be dynamite. Not quite the wooden crack that I love in stock format but 100% hot melt would be ideal.
just felt like if it caught it low on the face it didn’t jump up in spin. The fade in the pic was the highest I saw

I want to know if anyone has tested a 425 Max against a 410+ or LST and whether they actually saw a drop in spin with the new one. That actually sounds too good to be true if the new Max is lower spinning than the 410 line.

Yes a Pro did and saw spin reduction that was significant

This is such a bizarre release by Ping. They generated some hype during the Australian / Asian release but it has mostly died down. So weird that there are UK and US embargos when there are Aussie videos and a ton of Japanese and Korean videos/reviews. As Matt from TXG said in their last stream, it’s not like the 80s releases via Golf magazines, we have the internet now.

Ping will probably generate interest again because of how good the product appears to be, but I can’t help thinking that they have left a fair bit on the table, not to mention that they will now be competing with everyone else’s 2021 drivers when they could have been first.

I think this statement from an Australian article likely sums it up nicely...

"The LST model (9º &10.5º) is designed with a pear-shaped head and measures 445cc to deliver spin reductions of approximately 200 rpm compared to the G410 LST and 500-700 rpm versus the G425 Max."

I'd hate to see how low spinning the LST is. The G425 Max has my G400 LST covered. Higher launch and still cuts through the air like a knife. Crazy forgiving and quite low spinning, particularly given the forgiveness.  Absolutely lower spinning than the G400 MAX i had which was short for me whilst this thing is long.  Can't wait to spend more time with it.

I apologize in advance for not reading the 39 pages in this thread but does anyone know if pricing will change for the 425 irons vs the 410s?

Our rep said if there is going to be a price increase it's going to be minimal for the set (think $100 or so for the set), but nothing definitive yet (again what we were told).  However, we're pre-booking now for next year.  Almost all of the OEMs are projecting delays and are trying to get ahead of COVID or anything else.

Thanks tbowles! I was going to order some 410s but prefer the look of the 425s and being in New England I don't need irons until Spring. Would you suggest I just go ahead and order 425s?

That's hard to say since you've never hit them.  We have and they're fantastic, but I'd hold off until after the Virtual PGA Show and see if someone locally has some in a demo cart.  I wouldn't get anything that pricey without making absolutely sure you want them.

Besides the cavity are the 425s really that much different than the 410s?

They're actually a touch smaller than the 410s.  Feel is subjective.  I had the 410s at the time (before my son stole them), but I liked the feel.  Not harsh, but not soft.  They packed a bunch of technology in it, MOI is lower, even less offset, but I found I didn't really need it because the face was doing it's job in getting the ball off faster and higher.  The rest will come from a fitting.  Some will compare these to a i210.  Totally different animal and not in the same class of iron.  And distance is not a problem because of the lofts and the MOI.  It's going to motor out there.
