Ping i59

Put my order in yesterday! I’ve been playing s55 for seven years. I just had a surgery to repair a flexor tendon in my finger and can’t play till December. So I couldn’t hit the i59. The great thing about Ping is they will not put out a new product unless it is better than the one it’s replacing. I have no doubt that these will be in my bag for 5+ years.

I honestly think Ping forged the frames of these to check off a marketing box, knowing that players of certain demographics won't even consider a club that isn't "forged."

I'm glad touring pros bagging i210 haven't looked at their inscriptions. Ping Pros the last 40 years somehow avoided "forged".....

Mizuno grain flows their hosel - has Ping decided to join the club? Or are they inept, at the concept?

I like the look, size and the concept behind the tech, but am confused as to why they used a "forged" body/frame. Just to be able to market it as "forged" I'd guess?

One of the greatest things about Ping irons has always been durability, and with a forged frame, which likely adds nothing to feel, I'm afraid these will show significant bag chatter and wear.

I currently use the i500's and have had them for a few years and they still look like they are in great shape. These are in the category of "forged" but hollow.

You may want to ask the Zing iron players about how they compared to Eye2.

I placed my order from my pro shop today. He  said they would ship out by the end of September  ( he said it did not matter if it was custom or stock. I read someone said they placed and order for custom options and that their order would be delayed)

The last set of Pings was my nickle ISI iron . I really like the look and feel of these.

Thinking of making myself a combo set of 9i-6i blueprints and i59 5i-4i. Makes it cheaper plus the loft/lie specs look pretty much identical between blueprint and i59 so theoretically they should blend well.

Would love to know if anyone's been able to get their hands on anything other than a 7i demo, and how well they think short iron blueprints would blend into long iron i59s. Both in terms of looks (specifically blade length) and distance; I'm playing MP18 MMCs right now through the bag and when I got fitted for them they were consistently 5-10 yards longer than the blade MP18. Would like to avoid a 20 yard gap between blueprint 6i and i59 5i...

A vokey 46* and a Srixon ZX Utility 3i round out the set, for anyone weird enough to be curious as to what's in an internet stranger's bag...

Had the chance to hit some 20-25 shots (including "warm-up") with a 7 iron today. It had the standard Project X LS 6.0 shaft. Liked it, but did launch and peak out a bit higher than my Blueprints (with DG 105 HS S). Launch at 19-20 deg, where I'm usually in the 16-17 deg range. Whether that is from shaft, head or delivery I don't know.

My thought is to test it properly and if that confirms my initial experience I could very well be tempted to swap my 3-5 irons to these i59s. But let's see 🙂

And my first thought when I got it in hand, was like "hmm got some offset this one!". 😂

I guess I should have been more clear lol…for a Ping iron there is minimal offset

Blueprints are 212, right? You might only be saving about $150. Just get what you want at that point.

Finally got the fit cart head in and got to hit it today. Nice looking, feel solid with a hollow feel to them?! Definitely diff. Plenty of spin and launch with them. But, at $2,150 CAD$ for a 7 piece set, not going to happen for me! New wedges are $279. I will be playing something else that is cheaper. Sorry Ping! Long time player of your irons.

I'm a long-time Ping guy and think my i200s feel pretty good, though different than most Mizuno MPs which IMO feel great when flushed. I think forged versus cast is an obsolete discussion.  Clubs either feel good or they don't! A more nuanced discussion would be feel on center-strikes versus mis-hits.

Was at my local golf shop today. Was able to get my hands on all the new Titleist iron heads, the new TM 790s and the i59s. I’m typically not a big Ping fan, but will say I liked the look of the i59s the best. Wasn’t expecting that. The fitter told me of all the new heads they have, the 59s have been getting the most love after people try them all.

Wow!  These clubs look super cool.  In the Ping video they mention iBlade, so are these the replacement for those?  If not, has Ping mentioned what these replace?  Sorry for not reading through the entire thread, it's just so long...

Look you specifically said Ping included "forged" to cater[sell] a customer.....I just think that's not the case- Ping & forged aren't exactly words associated to each other.

A forged body....fine its not forged club - I agree
