Mizuno JPX Line

I believe they are just offering the JPX Sel set which consists of 921 forged and tours.

I really like the JPX line and had a set of 900 forged and then Hot Metal a few years back but the P790 are just longer particularly in the mid-long irons. Although I don't expect them to be P790 long, if the new material offers a little extra ball speed then I could be tempted.

this is wonderful news. I like having a gap wedge with the set. Happy I didn't pull the trigger one 919T's. I already made an appointment for Sept 20th to get fitted. Do the fitters typically get their demo clubs on release day also or do they get em a bit earlier?

@hyunsbuns check with your guy/gal but most fitters and shops get them up to a month earlier to fit and do pre-orders

I think it's an imprecise science, but if one goes back to the start of the golf season, all OEMs had a choice to make with respect to inventory - err on possibly not having enough, or on running out.

In Mizuno's case, this is fairly typical for them and OEMs in general. Production on the on-the-way out model stops (including customer builds) to get ready for the replacement model. Once word gets out, there are far more fence sitters that will wait to try the new one than are going to buy the old one (and expect discounts). If the bigger OEMs started holding fire sales (which they've resisted thus far), the smaller guys are more likely to lose out.

I have a different view on Ping. Not that they are perfect, but one has to take into account the situation in AZ and how their ability to fulfill orders has been hampered. Also, it's clear that supply chains in general are still disrupted for some items. Even in normal times, the last couple of Ping launches have supply constraints on certain heads or shafts. It's not a stretch to think those could be worse in the current situation. If they are having delays getting current product with presumably less demand out the door, it would be even worse with a new product launch. Not saying it's optimal, but it could be making the best of a far from optimal situation.

As for opening the door for others, that's always going to be a possibility, but IMO both Ping and Mizuno have pretty loyal customer bases.

They get it a few weeks before release so you should be able to see and test them before your fitting.

Has anyone taken into account that mizuno is backed up pretty good from the virus. At this time any orders are taking 5 week to be shipped and maybe even more. Maybe they just qanted to cut out the extra work for now so just stopped 919. Initially this one pic of the 921 forged looks pretty good but extremely similar to whats allready out am i wrong? That being said they still look great because its just a fantastic look. Im a mmc 20 guy mahself ?

I have not seen that they are backed that bad. I have seen customer orders average around 10 days from order to delivery.

You may have had better luck than most.

My brother-in-law went to for a fitting at Club Champion and the fitter told him that that particular Club Champion location was shying away from anything Mizuno right now because it was a month or more to get anything from them and we are only a couple hours away from the Braselton, GA manufacturing facility.

I was fit and ordered MP20MMC on June 20th and didn't get them until July 22nd. Their website also states "COVID19 Notice: We are currently dispatching custom orders within 30 working days from order, whilst implementing new COVID19 protection measures within the factory. Thank you for your patience."

My last order with them in June was right at 10 days. Yesterday in speaking to them for an MP order it's 5 to 6 weeks. They quoted the 10 day perfectly accurately, so I'm assuming they will be on the mark with this one as well. If it's earlier my customer will be thrilled.

The forged looked good, but I'm not sold on the tours of I'm honest just yet. I can't help but feel that Mizuno have taken a bit of a step backwards here from what we've seen so far. They look like they'd sit well in a ping lineup, similar lines to the i200.

Maybe it's the paint fill, 'BH' stamp, TBC putter cover, and reflection from the sunlight... and of course it's a single pic, but the 921Ts look pretty awful IMHO.

Nowhere close to the 919Ts and not even as nice as the 900Ts.

Hmm, I am reserving judgement until I see the actual pics from mizuno but that picture...does not make them look good. The 900t and 919t both looked great, watch these be as ugly as they look and then we get them in lefty lol.
