These are a combo of HMP and 919 forged. Sooo glad I didn’t wait and picked up some 919 forged. The reason I sold my HMPs was due to feel of the forged. Forged chromoly will be better than HMPs, like the HMBs, but not like the feel of 1025 steel with traces of boron.

I really do not think that is the case. Calling them a child of the hot metal pro/919 forged I am not sure is accurate. I would just call it a refinement of the 919 forged.

Whatever Q, we’re both Mizuno fanboys so it’s all good. Obviously forged chromoly will feel better than the HMP version but IMHO it won’t feel as soft as the 919 forged. Also looks like it might be a smidge smaller than 919f but can’t really tell from the pic. I need some help so I’m still happy with 919f.

If the 921 forged slides a little more towards GI and more forgiving that 919 forged then that will be at the top of my list. Otherwise I'll be looking at 921 hot metal or something from Ping.

I'm sure there are plenty of other people on here that want things to go the other way and see the new forged with a thinner topline and less offset, but for myself I'm hoping that isn't the case and imo that would start to infringe on the tour model.

Those in the know, are we going to see specs on 8/17? Or will we have to wait until retail launch on 9/17?

Really just my best guess combined with my own personal hopes. For all I know all 4 lines are coming back and everything will be just a slight revision of 919. HMP doesn't really seem to have much of a niche though as you're giving up a lot of the GI aspect of the clubs but not gaining any of the feel of the forged products. I'd be curious to see how that club sells compared to the others in the 919 line-up or the HMB.

Same here only I’ll be looking to Srixon or Titleist.... It looks like the ZX5 may be offering more help than the Z585 with the added tungsten but we’ll have to wait for more info on that club also. Fingers crossed...

I play the 900 forged and they are ridiculously long imo. I know faster is better but my 8 iron already goes 180. I just want a smaller look and forgiveness for thin and toey shots. I really hope these are not too chunky looking at address. I may have to go tour til the 7 iron and then pick up a couple forged to complete the set. I am not opposed to a full set of forged but the scoring clubs need to look more players like...like the 900 forged. 919 forged did not look good imo.

i would say it would be nice to hit an 8i 180, as i only hit my 8i 140, but how in the world do you manage the bottom end of the bag? i mean you dont really need anything more than a 5i, right?

I have a 58 I hit 100 and in. A 54 I hit 100 to 120. A 50 I hit 120 to 140 depending on strike. PW goes 150. 9 goes 160 to 170 depending on strike. I hit them all very high with a ton of spin so I like being able to hit a drive and use a scoring iron from 180 in. When I am driving it well I rarely use more than a 9 iron except for par 5s.

8 iron 180? That's 20 past mine, but I fully agree, the 8 iron down of the 919F look cumbersome. Hope the 921F progress better.

8-PW should be smaller heel to toe. 7 to 4 are OK where they stand IMO.

New line up is as follows:

Jpx921 Hot Metal

Jpx 921 HMP

Jpx 921 Forged, will be smaller heel to toe and thinner top line and sole, 1* stronger lofts than 919 forged

Jpx921 tour, they have added a gap wedge

Jpx 921 SEL, which I believe will consist of 3-5 in 921 forged and 6-pw in 921 tour

Considering many tour pros are using the 919 line, I would say Mizzy has more than a small percent of followers for the 919 line, they flat out perform all models!

I’m hoping for something on the 921 to help gap with my mp20s. Obv the only thing that matters for me is what they make left-handed. As that’s the only reason I’m left up to the 921 to gap mid/long irons.
