What is your highest lofted wedge?

I generally play a 58* as my highest with a mid bounce and a C style grind (of at least heel relief in w/e OEM I'm playing).  This year I think that I will bring out a wedge set I haven't played in years as it has a 64* as well (I like matching sets).  I found myself struggling out of bunkers at the end of the year for some reason (usually love bunker play) and will be trying something with a bit higher loft and lower bounce for some of the conditions I came across.

56 no need for anything higher. It can do everything from 100 yards to a 1’ forward, 30’ high lob. A 60 would only get used once every 7-8 rounds at most and robs me of flight/gap options up the longer end of the bag.

played around at the range yesterday with all of my wedges and the 64* had a good 55 yard number on it for me.

 

TM Hi Toe full face, it's pretty consistent.

56. I would only hit my 60 when the conditions were perfect for it, and there were very few opportunities where a softer 56 wouldn’t hit exactly the same shot. Now I can carry a fairway wood at the top instead of the 60 I barely used.

My philosophy when it comes to wedges is to use as few as possible.  In my particular case, it's a PW (44*), Gap (48*), and a Sand (54*).

 

I seldom use the 48* because I can make do with the 54* in many cases, but in some situations, I need it for those in between yardages because of wind or up hill play.

 

The PW is just a continuation of my set and is used for gapping, but the 54* is really my workhorse wedge.  I can hit full shots, half shots, and lobs with it.  It's probably the most used club in my bag and that probably accounts for my proficiency with it.  Hence, that's why I advocate as few wedges as possible.  My opinion is that each club takes lots of practice time to master and to the extent that you are using multiple wedges, it's hard to gain that proficiency.

 

I've read in a number of sources that Jack Nicholas carried one wedge during the prime of his career and I can understand that.  I'm assuming they mean specialty wedge, in addition to the PW.

Just noticed this thread and looks like it has been around awhile so no idea what you ended up doing, but I went from a 60 to 58 for some of the same reasons - a little less spin/more control and no difference in shots I can play whatsoever.

60. Never had any issues playing 60s so I never bothered to try a 58.
