BEST "off the tee 3/4 wood - 2015 or newer!

I also would agree, I gamed the 2017 M2 Tour 15* and it is the longest 3W I've ever hit. Absolute monster. Not terribly forgiving though. My 3W is a tee box weapon at my home course. I sacrifice a handful of yards distance to get a bit more forgiveness and safety off the tight tee shots I use my 3W on.

I haven't found anything yet that can take my Cobra Amp 4 wood out of the bag. Last year I tried several 3/4 woods out at my local shop and none could match it for distance or accuracy. I thin it's a 1 in a million find for me that just works perfectly.

I'd say don't sleep on the Cobra F8. Absolutely fantastic off the turf or teed up. Instead of a "tingy" sound, it is more of a solid "thwack." It sounded strange at first but I absolutely love this thing now! I used to be scared to hit a 3 wood off the tee because I was more likely to miss the fairway than just hitting a driver, but I use it very frequently off the box now and haven't looked back.

Edit: I did also order it 1/2" shorter, this has also helped tremendously.

In the past ive struggled quite a bit with 3 wood. That was until the mavrik max was released. Ive tried sim max, epic flash, rogue, ping, cobra, literally everything released in past 5 years. I dont know if its the bigger head or what but for the first time in my life im absolutely crushing my 3 wood off the tee and deck consistantly. I paired it with a graphite design tp shaft and this is the best fairway shaft I have ever hit as well.

One problem i have is the "lie". Club lies keep getting more and more upright. Im short, and play everything short and flat. So many of these woods are too upright for me. Hook central.

I had the Epic Flash Sub Zero. The PXG Gen2 3 wood knocked it out. Same shaft (HZRDUS Smoke). Both hit penetrating rockets. The PXG is just more certain, feels better and is longer for me. Maybe because I'm more confident hitting it...

The easiest one would be a high lofted, 41-43" driver, if it's not a fairway club. Or, if it's truly a "fairway finder", go the other way, and get a 43" 8-ish or less, and punch a 200y shot with tons of controlled rollout. Like ten-pin bowling.

Try the flat settings on the Ping 3LST. If it hooks, it was all you, mate.

I echo this assuming getting a 3 wood airborne off the deck isn’t a problem. A low spin fairway wood should be considered if it’s going to be primarily a tee box club. Off even a low tee regular 3s risk ballooning into the slightest of breezes. I personally have two options for three wood. A strong low spinner for when I’ll need a lot of fairway finders and a standard 15* for longer more open courses when I’m more likely to be hitting it off the deck.

If getting a 3 wood off a tight lie is still iffy then ignore me.

For an older model 915 titleist fairways are really good. Spieth and Thomas still game them

imo, cobra has been killing the tall face Fairway woods since right about 2015.

and you can play anything, but I think I would stick to within three years if you’re looking for the latest tech

f6-f9 all awesome

Another vote for Epic Flash Sub Zero (penetrating, long). It has replaced my driver at times; as I often struggle off the tee. Cobra F9 (forgiving, higher flight) has been reliable for me at times this year as well, not as consistently long as EF SZ.

That's good to hear. I've been playing the F8 5-wood for about two seasons and love it. Tried to play with the M6 fairway wood, but it hasn't been working out when compared to my M2 that I've had in the bag for a few years. I think I'm going to give the F9 a try.

OG Taylormade 2016 3HL 16.5 is a beast. MIne is a tour issue model at 16.7. My playing partners think the club is illegal... just got a matching tour issue 5HL at 22 to match it....longer than sim max 15 and sim max D 16 I have.

Curious on your distances on 16.5 and 22. I have the 3HL tour issue and thinking of dumping my 3 wood and hybrid for this same setup. The 16.5 HL is without question the best fairway I have played in 20 years. Can bomb off tee and confident from fairway. Have a tour ad gp in it 42.5” and 240-250 yard carries are regular with high baby draw ball flight. Would be removing TS3 15 and 818h 19 from my setup.

As has been pointed out, a 3w is a very personal kind of thing. I have fond feelings seeing a Titleist metal wood by the ball because of playing the old 975 growing up.

I have the 917F2 and it's the first wood I've had confidence in in forever. I think Titleist has the best adjustable hosel in the game. Plus the 917 has the heel/toe adjustable weight cartridge.
