2020 PGA Championship: Glory's Only Shot

Harding is very close to the ocean. It's the cold combined with the wind and fog that get you. Check out Google Maps. The Pacific Ocean in Northern California is nothing like Southern California. The water is very cold...

We always chuckle at the tourists in San Francisco in the summer wearing shorts and T-shirts...you can spot them easily because they end up buying overpriced 'I escaped from Alcatraz' sweatshirts to keep from freezing : ) Natives wear pants and pullovers.

I grew up in SoCal but I learned quickly during my short lived stay in the Bay Area to always have a sweater or jacket in the golf bag because as soon as the sun got behind the mountains the temps would drop like a rock, its one of the reasons they can grow great wine grapes up there. IMO the guys that play late in the afternoon will have to deal with temps dropping as the sun sets and shadows start appearing on the course, the ball isn't going anywhere and you will see many a player with his hands in his pocket as he walks to his ball from the tee in the afternoon groups on Thurs/Fri

I understand that professional golfers are entertainers, so they should be appreciative of what the media is doing to promote them. But at the same time, I wish more players would just give completely sarcastic responses to those stupid questions. "Do you think you have a good chance to win here?"..."Not at all, my game is in shambles and there are a lot of people here better prepared physically and mentally than me. I'm just here to enjoy the San Francisco weather."

Tiger tees off at 2pm EST Friday and coverage starts at 4pm EST on ESPN.

So you're right, we will see him on his back nine Friday. Better than nothing. Guess i'll follow the round on Tiger Tracker

I used to be a windsurfer, and I still subscribe to a site that monitors and predicts the winds around the world. Very helpful for a windsurfer.

In any event, I am looking at the Fort Funston location, which is across the street from Olympic club. The prediction is for lighter winds than there have been, for the next few days. Only 13 tomorrow, and less on Friday and Saturday. On the other hand, it's blowing 25 at the moment.

Unseen, in the background, Fate was quietly slipping the lead into the boxing-glove.  P.G. Wodehouse

Having spent over 20 yrs in SF and living in the suburbs now with my parents still there (about 1 mi. from Harding) I can say those temps are BALMY for SF! Its brutal when I leave my house and its 85-90 at lunch time and its 58 at my parents' place! There was a strong chance that the highs would be 62 or lower. (If you're going to visit SF, the best time is Indian Summer in mid-late Sept.)

Couldn't agree more! Have travelled to SF from Australia many times around Sept/Oct/Nov and the weather is PERFECT then.

I've also played Harding Park in the afternoon and it does get very chilly when the sun starts to go down and the wind picks up. Nice course but it would have been MUCH better at Olympic.

Hopefully Jason Day's recent good form continues.

Harding Park is on the breakers side of SF, it's less foggy, windy, cool on the bay side. 15 miles south in San Mateo it's warmer. 30 miles south in Palo Alto it's much warmer (as TW said, difference can be 20F). 45 miles south in San Jose, you probably need to turn on the AC. Pick your weather.

Southern California weather is much nicer (especially in winter) but Bay Area has the big checks.

LOL! It's not 2008 son when TW had no back issues. Sorry to use facts against you regarding the weather and TW's performance since 2018. So typical in this day and age where facts do not matter. You're so out of touch with your predictions of TW that you have to be trolling WRX. You do realize that your awful Tiger predictions are available for all to see?

That said please show all of WRX where one of your TW predictions was accurate. FWIW nobody here will be waiting for that bro. You can take that to the house.

I took a look but decided that it just wan’t worth the hassle for being able to watch an hour of golf at best when I get home from work. Ridiculously, even when you go onto the Championship website, the videos from players news conference weren’t even available in the UK. I could understand that if it were for the actual coverage of the event but pre-tournament interviews?!
