2016 M2 driver

Is it just me or is the 2016 M2 the best driver head for feel, sound, look at address, forgiveness and length????

I have tried several others but nothing beats out my 2016 M2.  I felt the same way about the Titleist 910D3, until the M2 came out.  It was a game changer for me.  I have hit or demoed every TM head since the M2 but none of them are the complete package the M2 is and that includes the 2017 M2.

I plan to keep rocking my M2 until it breaks and then I will just replace it with another one!

It's a helluva driver. Mine's been in the bag since 2016. I bought a back-up because nothing I've tried since is as good. Good luck replacing it as examples in great condition are hard to find and demand premium $.

The 905, 910, and the 2016 M2.  It seems that every 5-6 years a driver gets released that seems to stand out years after its discontinuation.

I picked one up this year. Tried some used drivers and the new stuff available now. Almost pulled the trigger on an M6. But I couldn't get over a 2016 M2 I tried.

Came across a ton of 2017s and a few 2016 10.5 ones in tough condition.

Then the heavens parted and I found a sweet 2016 9.5* M2.

So beasty. Feels so good. Crushes it. Such a big improvement in my flight path than my old drivers.

I had one and sold it to buy the Ping G400 Max. I love the Max, but I wish I hadn't gotten rid of the 2016 M2 so hastily. I would at least like to still have it as a backup and be able to pull it out every now and again to hit bombs.

I still have my 2016 8.5 T.I. head that I'll never sell.  It's absolutely the longest driver I've ever played, it just has another gear I've yet to find in another driver.

However, I'm way more consistent with my M5.  With the M2 the "big miss" was always there often enough to make the big distance not as appealing over time.

Every now and then I pull it out for a round and it absolutely still has it and will keep up with anything new out there.

I prefer the looks of the 2017 honestly.  I know the '16 gets rave reviews and I have tried it on multiple occasions and have never found the love.  2017 has been much better for me.  A lot of great options out there right now.

I had one in a 10.5 head for a little while after reading about how well regarded they were. I could have a pretty wild right miss with it. It may have been the shaft that was in it. I was able to easily sell it for what I bought it for. I ended up in a TS3 9.5 that is much more stable and consistent for me. Even the right miss is not nearly as offline as I was with the 16 M2. Some tinkering I'm sure could have gotten me the right combo but switching to the TS3 was easier and cheaper.

It's an undeniably great club. I'd probably use one if I didn't have an irrational dislike of crowns that aren't black or wood-grain.

I have both the 2016 M1 and M2 in awesome shape. I am going to play the M2 tomorrow. I played the M1 last week and drove it well but saw some decent drop off on a couple of off center strikes.

Have you tried any of the newer versions of the M series? did you notice the twist face as an upgrade?

I have the m6 3 wood which I love and has been amazing, this week i have also tried out the sim 4hybrid at the range on the demo rack and was killing it sounded so good.

Which now has tempted me to look to get a driver was looking at m5 or 6, but interested to see or hear more about the m2 etc

The 2016 M2 was a great driver. Many say the GOAT of recent years. I loved mine! Extremely long, lowish spin, and forgiving. I personally loved the feel and sound especially with a heavier aftermarket rear weight. Unfortunately it didn't last long as the carbon fiber portion of the crown separated and I received the 2017 M2 as a replacement. The 2017 would have worked for me if I had an 8.5* head or a 9.5* lofted down.

I would have the 2016 M2 in the bag, but I don't want to have to track down half a dozen or more for replacements because of the crown separation issue. That being said the M5 is a great driver for ME. With the weights setup up in the draw and fade setting, its a beast. Now it seems like the SIM may take over the spot with how much buzz there has been lately.

I had he same experience with mine.  At least 2 MOABs (mother of all blocks) per round.  Switched to Epic Flash and it’s hard to miss the fwy, but those extra 15-20 yards with the 2016 M2 were awesome.

@gridironesq I like that acronym! That's exactly how I would describe it. I would agree too that the M2 would occasionally sneak out an extra 10-15 yards over my current TS3.

Where was the separation?  I have one and love it.  Hope it doesn’t happen to me...

Mine was about an inch and a half long. I marked the spot in red in the photo. It wasn't completely separated but you could see a ridge in the white paint where the metal and carbon fiber meet. Our club pro and other employees said it was common. I had the same thing happen to an M3 fairway...

I was gaming the M6 for a few rounds before I traded it back in.  I have tried just about all of the M series drivers and personally, I do not see any gain in MY game with the Twist Face technology.  The '17 is far more forgiving and consistent for me than any other TM driver yet but that is not to say YOU wont see improvement...

  • 1 year later...

I’ve got 3 heads at my disposal! Been playing the M2 for 4 years now, and planning to continue until they all bust!

Sim was no better in any way, shape or form. Not worse either, but no reason to change.
