Water Resistant "golf pants" , not "golf rain gear"

Recommended Posts

I dislike pulling out my rain pants and doing the one leg hop on the tee box mid round when the skies open up.  Additionally, once my "clown fit" xxl rain pants are on, I am constantly pulling them up and re-tightening the draw string.  It seems as if most rain gear uses a draw string and rain pants are without belt loops. I am thinking of looking for a pair of water proof/water resistant pants to wear to the course when the forecast calls for rain.  Something that looks more like regular pants with belt loops and maybe even comes in colors other than black.  Not really interested in hiking pants with lots of pockets as I would prefer a more golf attire look.

Anyone have suggestions?

I read about Galway Bay in another thread a while back. I don’t have personal experience with them but they look like actual pants that are made from waterproof material.

I wear them and they are very good but would be considered fully waterproof rain pants.  I do get complements when others are wearing their clown rain pants.  I will wear them on the days that might rain in case the sky opens up and then it is simple to throw on the rain jacket.

Costco has Eddie Bauer's Tech Pant, which, are listed to be water repellant, but, it has a vertical cargo pocket. I have a similar version without the side pocket, and, they have worked well for me in light rain showers. If it is really going to rain, then, I will wear waterproof rain pants.

Checked out their website.  Looks like good stuff..........Do you wear the lined or unlined?  I'm in the Pacific Northwest and play year around.  Generally more wet than cold.  Might check them out.  Looks like a good savings when you bundle with their jacket.  Do you have their jacket as well?

I bought the unlined pants at the beginning of the year. I am comfortable wearing them in temps down into the 40s. Worn them in rain and for “winter golf” here in New England. Been very pleased. Honestly anything above 60 and I start to get too warm. They are wind proof so they don’t let air in just some water vapor (aka - sweat) out.  I’m thinking about getting another pair. Hate pulling rain pants on.

Ebbie Bauer First Ascent Guide Pro pants are an outstanding option. DWR, stretch, comfortable.  Not only for golf but cool weather, winter with a base layer. I have a few pair and they are awesome.

Linksoul rain paints have both a drawstring and belt loops. Relatively slim fit for rain pants. I often wear them with thermal leggings as my goto winter paint.

These are the same or close to it what was mentioned by the poster earlier about Costco’s Eddie Bauer offering.  I bought all I could from Costco since they were $20 and they are some of my favorite pants.  Wear them for work and golf all the time.  More of a casual pant than dressier one but they are water resistant, stretch and fit great.  I bought a pair of the Assent pants and they are almost the same but pockets in different places and the “A” logo on leg.

love them. My Costco has been out of those pants for 1 year.  I will replace with the EB assent.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the Costco EB will be a slightly lower grade the EB First Ascent which is their premium line. EB like other mfgs makes a lower end line for stores like Costco. I'm sure their still pretty good but not like the real deal.

Correct. I wish I could still find them at my Costco.  I would buy more.  Love them.  They sold out around Tennesee pretty quickly.  I stopped in all sorts of Costco’s when I was in their areas for work.

love them so much I’ll buy more Assent versions for more when I need new colors or to replace.

The EB pants with the zippered rear pocket? Those have been sold out for a while, but, recently, I found EB pants, which are similar, but, with a zippered cargo pocket on the side - https://www.costco.com/eddie-bauer-men’s-tech-pant.product.100653334.html As a bonus, $4 off until the 12/24.

I have the unlined because if I need to wear in colder temps I simply add long johns.  I have the jacket as well.  I may need to add the short sleeve rain jacket which is on clearance.

Galway Bay does make an unlined all-weather pant that is wind and water resistant, and looks fits like "regular" pants instead of golf rain pants.  They are pricey, but Galway Bay makes really, really good stuff.
