Great shaft.  I loved the NV 105-Pro’s, stiff, stable and consistent shaft.  Play a set in my AP2’s X and soft stepped.  Really nice feel.  Just recently displaced by a set of Accra’s.  Just as consistent, but feel softer in a positive way.

Another fan of the NV105.  When i first went with a graphite experiment 4 years ago, they were the shaft I went with.  Gave me a penetrating trajectory, better wind performance than I'd had with the steel in that set previously.

Thought about picking up another set of the shafts but procrastinated and they were no longer available.

Wish I'd had the foresight to get in on the NV130 when they were available...

mmt 105, Fuji pro ..

I've loved the fuji pro. Split set 95 tour spec S in long irons, 115 tour spec S in short irons. Could easily go 95 through the set though.

If you’re looking to stay in the 95g, stiff range I’d check out MMT 95s or Recoil 95 F4.

Recently hit both of these during a fitting. For me, they had very similar spin, launch, apex numbers.  Recoils were a little bit more stout than MMT at that weight range.

Honestly, not sure you can go wrong with many of the latest graphite offerings. Broken record around here, but go get fit and see what performs best for you.

I have played a lot of different graphite shafts over the past 10 years.  There are a lot of great options out there.  I started with the Recoil Prototypes and liked them a lot.  They had a very lively feel to them, but my dispersion wasn't great.  I then went to the Accra i Tour iron shafts and was very impressed.  Very solid tight feel with excellent dispersion.  They felt like they took alittle extra effort to load these shafts.  I then went to the Steelfibers.  These are a unique shaft, in that there feel is very different to me, compared to most other graphite shafts.  People either like this feel or hate it.  I tend to like it.  It has a more muted dead feel to me than other graphite options.  This fall, I tested the MMT shafts and they felt good with good results but didn't really wow me the way I was hoping.  I tested the MMT vs. a few others and I landed back with the Steelfibers.  They produced the best numbers with regards to launch, spin, and dispersion.  I recently changed my swing and needed alittle more spin hitting into greens, as the new swing was causing some run out on the greens, so the Steelfibers gave me an extra 200-300 rpms of spin, which has reduced some of this run out.  Obviously, this is my swing issue, so may not apply to you.

I still keep an eye out the bay for a set of these. Similar situation. I didn't pull the trigger on a set that popped up and haven't seen a full set since.

All good info.  I had an idle set of SF 95 regulars that I just had moved into a back-up set of C300 Forged irons.  Either going to be a slam-dunk that competes with my steel shafted set, or yet another tinkering folly.  Don't know unless you try, and looking forward to hitting these once the snow melts.

I also have iron sets with SF 90 stiff, SF 110 reg, Recoil 95 reg, and Recoil 95 stiff.  I like all of these shafts to some degree, but none have risen above the rest out on the course.  I will likely try out the MMT 95/105 at some point, now that those are becoming a bit more common with OEM's.

Out of pure boredom I ordered a KuroKage iron shaft to try. I will put it in the CB 7 iron head to try out. I really like the KK in my 5 wood and just put one to try in my driver.

I am fighting shoulder tendonitis and the talk of a lighter setup came up. It was only $25 to try and a full set is $120.

Of course I just installed new shafts last week, but you know.

So now what? I built up the 7 and loved it. Solid shots were 15+ yards further (1* stronger and 1/2" longer) than my current 7 and very predictable.

So do I call it good and build the set, or try something else that could possibly be better? Or worse?

<edit> after WAY too much reading and thought I think the KK shafts fit the budget and seem to perform at least as well as the steel shafts. I love the low torque and the flight was great.

If you like them, play them. Nothing wrong with Kuro Kage. Have not hit their iron shafts but have played and enjoyed their woods and hybrid shafts.

Of the shafts I have hit, I like graphites that play a little heavier than they really are, rather than actually being heavy:

1. Project X Catalyst 100 6.0 — Responsive, tight shaft. Almost like steel with 2.0 torque. Lots of power. Have clubs coming with these installed. More firm a la Steelfiber, but to me the Catalyst feels better.

2. X Caliber Rapid Taper — I swear, the 75g stiff plays like a 105g shaft. Have a set of Maltbys with this shaft. These shafts feel explosive.
3. Mitsubishi MMT 95 — A lot of love for the 105TX and 125TX, but the 95 stiff holds up just fine for me at 88 mph with a 7 iron. Another tight shaft. You can feel the stiffer tip section at impact. It’s nice. I may try these sooner or later.

Much difference between the Mitsu MMT 95 and PX Catalyst 100 6.0?  I have a set of Catalyst and trying to figure out if I want to keep and shaft up something.  Currently on SF 95 R.  Thinking I may softstep the Catalyst 1 time.

The X Caliber were on the list along with the recoils. But I really liked how this 7 felt. Great feedback on a few toe happy hits, but we'll struck shots looked great. At $15 a pop, I'm happy with that.

Not much difference between them. Both are really good. MMT torque is 2.8 and Catalyst 100 is 2.0 and you can feel the difference, but that is simply feel. They’re both true to flex. I’d say they’re both going to play equivalent to Steelfiber 95 stiff. Soft-stepping the Catalyst 6.0 twice might get you closer to Steelfiber 95 regular, but I would hit one straight in and see how you do. They’re stable, not harsh. Same for the MMT. IMO the Catalyst 100 6.0 is a touch stiffer than the MMT 95 stiff, but same fit for players who are in this range. I guess the surprise to me was I was interested in the MMT to begin with but the Catalyst emerged when I gave it a tryout. Good looking shaft too with the ion plating. Looks like a PX LZ steel shaft.

Switched to graphite iron shafts a few years ago for their vibration dampening effects and lighter weights. Tried Recoil,  Accra, Tour AD, OTi, MCI, UST Attas, Honma Vizard, Fubuki, JDM such as Quadra & Crazy.  Leap years above the Aldila shafts I first tried in the late 90’s.

I play Steelfiber i95 stiffs for their performance. Honestly don’t think they feel harsh at all. Maybe I have them paired with the right heads.

For those who really want the best feeling shafts (rubbery instead of glassy), you need to try Roddio Pentacross (JDM). Have the I-10’s in 2 different sets & I-8’s in another.

I have the XCaliber Rapid Taper 75g regular flex shafts in Maltby TS2 iron heads.   The higher ball flight and great performance from the shaft has significantly upgraded my iron game.

I actually just asked a similar question in a separate thread, so thanks for the comparisons.  I am low-mid 90s driver SS, and have loved Steelfiber 110 R and 95 R.  For the first time, I have been giving the SF 95 R a consistent run, as I had them moved from an iron set I didn't like into my gamer C300 Forged.  Really so good.  So much so that I am having my fitted SF 110 moved into my backup set of C300 Forged.  It will be a C300 Forged/SF bonanza...

It's a great time to be a graphite iron shaft user, and I can't really see going back to steel consistently.  I like the Recoil 95 as well, and between F3 and F4, think I prefer F3, though F3 hard-stepped or F4 soft-stepped are probably ideal.  Need to try Catalyst 100, MMT 95/105, etc.

I have sets of i95cw and i110cw both "S" but went with Mitsubishi Tensei AV White AM "S" in 2 iron - SW, 90g-108g, 2g ascending weight.  Not inexpensive when you factor in install but worth review.  They are stout with all the benefits of graphite as well as the easy transition from steel.

I have a set of Protos yet to be installed, the plan being to use them with my MP37s.  Since the 37s hit a bit lower, I thought it could be a good use for the Proto; going a bit higher won't be a problem with them.

With other sets, going higher might not be such a win for me.  😉

The review comment I'd read from Russ Ryden (of Golf Shaft Reviews) mentioned him finding a degree higher launch with 1k lower spin.  It comes with the usual caveat of individuals all responding to shafts differently, but knowing the potential is there is a positive.

Thanks, Phizz  <tip cap>

Good luck on you're experiment.  I have a feeling it will work out for you bro.

Reshaft is done, have three rounds in so far with the Recoil Protos and MP37s.  Calling it a success.  I *have* seen a small bump in trajectory, wrists are liking the change, and I'm seeing an improvement in lateral dispersion.

A win all around so far.  🙂
