I think I'd rather get paired with 3 80yr old women, than one of those guys.

I'd probably throw up after 2 or 3 holes from the disgusting sound of their iron shots. Those guys couldn't find the middle of the face if their lives depended on it.

Here's one… I won't play AD DI shafts because of their paint. They're obnoxious and distracting.

Oh man, I LOVE their paint. It’s a reason I’ll play them. Hate the black-and-white version of the AD DI, because what’s the point?

The pure comedy coming from this music on a golf course discussion is gold.

It reminds me of the scene in Caddyshack where the caddies are allowed to use the pool and the old lady is running around screaming at everybody about the rules while they ignore everything she is saying.

Also, everything progresses in time. Just because technology wasnt advanced enough 50+ years ago when all music was created with live instruments and vocals--doesnt make it better to all those arguing otherwise. You dont think if Pink Floyd had access to Pro Tools 50 years ago they wouldn't have been using it to create different and better sounds for their music? Cmon.

The #1 example for this is Linkin Park, who have sold over 100M albums and are one of the greatest selling rock/metal bands of all time. The main reason they were popular was because of their fusion of electronics combined with traditional instruments. They used a ton of synthesized sounds/vocals and they made better rock music than 90% of bands in music history

Kick rocks with all of the 'anything that wasnt made with traditional guitars, vocals and drums isnt music' crap.

Forgiveness in irons is overrated and over exaggerated.  Strike is King.

The people who want their games fixed with forgiving clubs are the same ones who want a weight loss program involving beer and nachos. Both sound good but you’re looking in the wrong place.

Going to go snobbish with this but unless you’re a scratch or better ball striker I don’t want your opinion or reviews of anything. You don’t make consistent contact for there to be anything close to usable equipment data

This isn't a perfect fit for this thread, but I have an obnoxious opinion about something that relates to equipment so I'm sharing it here:

People who misspell Rogue, as in Callaway Rogue ST, drive me crazy. All over these forums, you see "Rouge" as much or more than "Rogue."

Should I just ignore it, since there's no reason whatsoever that it should bother me? Yes, of course I should ignore it! It doesn't matter! Yet for whatever reason, it's become a huge pet peeve for me. It's something I can't imagine anybody else even cares about, so I figured it was probably unpopular.

Golf analytics/statistics are simply overkill in today's game. Everything has become all about the minutiae numbers - SG and launch monitor data and just make it more complicated (hence slower) than it should be. IMHO it's more than enough with the following : GIR, Total Putts, FIR, and penalty strokes to get a good overview of where your game is and where there's the most room for improvement regardless of what handicap you play to.

AND

Indoor launch monitor data off of mats is just complete bs for everything other than club head speed and swing info. We have an incredible indoor center here that has GCQuads on the range, and a bevy of Trackman simulators. Same day - ball flight numbers between the two are so different that I haven't got a clue as to what my ball will do once the winter is finally over and I'm hitting outside again.

I feel the same way when I see Nike VR pro irons referred to as VR II Pro. It’s so stupid… those aren’t a capital i or Roman numerals. 😂

Lincoln Park was a band of actual musicians who had lots of talent.  They played their instruments.  Whether that was a synth, or a guitar, or whatever, they still played them.  A person who arranges samples together on a computer is NOT a musician, and I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, a computer is NOT a musical instrument when used in that manner.  Clicking and dragging is not playing an instrument.  And yes, had today's recording tech been around 50 years ago, many of our heroes would have used it.  But they wouldn't have needed it to fix their parts, because they got good takes in the first place. ProTools is a very convenient way to record, but far too many bands use it as a crutch because they can't play well enough to make a good track without editing the crap out of their parts.  ProTools has made today's music sound robotic and boring.  The nuances and imperfections heard in older recordings give the songs "life" that new music just doesn't have.

I agree with some of this, but not the whole picture. Not saying its better than actually playing instruments, but producing music even if its purely electronic based is still a required talent. So much so people go get 4 year art degrees to learn it. You also need to have a ear for the sound and understand music at its core with layers, tempo, rifts, ect. Its not like any person can go use Pro Tools right now and make a #1 hit song. It requires a helluva lot of talent, time and understanding of music to be able to produce/mix it using a software program.

Thats like saying DJing takes no skill because they are not actually playing the music they are just hitting buttons and using turntables.

Working a computer is a talent but not a musical talent.

Somewhere behind any listenable music is somebody with musical talent.

Of course, that person may now be dead and in any event probably won’t get any royalties, or Corky Laing would be as rich as Tiger Woods.

People who play music while golfing that other groups can hear are just inconsiderate and rude.  Being inconsiderate and rude they don’t care and mock those whose games they interfere with and think the norms of golf should be changed to suit people who wouldn’t be playing at all if not for Covid or maybe their inability to get a job for other reasons.

Equipment can make you a better player.

Do you mean that if you play blades you’re more likely to learn to strike the ball properly?

My unpopular opinion is that golf is not about scoring, it is about hitting the ball well…scoring will follow.  Equipment that allows you to get good results from a poor swing will limit your ultimate satisfaction from the game, and the “better” your game gets with a poor swing (that is, you groove that swing) the less intermittent reinforcement you will get in the short term and the more frustrated you will get in the long term.
