Not really what I was looking for. Just trying to help some fellow wrx folks. I’ve always wanted a lamb putter though. Always seemed impossible to get so I settled on some cool donut markers 😂

TL on the other hand, the very few complaints I've seen were handled incredibly quick and with complete satisfaction from the customer. Never seen someone not happy with their putter purchase either. Weird how what people who don't buy anything from him think and what actually happen are two completely different things.

 

TL made some mistakes when he was first coming up, big deal. People change, get over it you crotchety old kooks lol.

At least he’s making putters, albeit slow, but still making putters. TL makes stuff for a privileged few, the fanboys, friends, and family. Business shortcomings and scaling too fast is one thing, but purposely limiting real production to market foolish trinkets is the real crime/folly...

kind of seems like he should of added more staff instead of that huge elaborate building. He could at least make even more trinkets that way.

Lots of venom in these Lamb threads. I have a few ball markers. They are beautiful. I love trinkets, so I'm A-OK with him making trinkets. I can't afford any of his putters anyway. LOL.

 

I'm not sure why everyone gets so bent out of shape about his business model. Whether he is artificially starving the market, or he came from money, or he's only selling to his friends, or he only makes accessories, or whatever... who cares? You do you (which I'm sure you all will say you are doing), and let him do him. It seems to be working. If he continues doing well, cool. If his business dries up and falls off the map, oh well.

 

Now I need to go searching for this Olson thread. I reached out to him a year or 2 back and he couldnt make what I wanted, so I bought a shirt instead. LOL. Now I'm curious what's going on over there!

I had Josey do a flow neck that looked amazing but I just prefer the long plumbers neck so I scoured Instagram to look for one that I liked the look of the best and it was Bastain. The sole weights were done by slighter. They are actually hollow stainless steel covers to reduce the weight of the putter.

Hard to say.  To me there's too many whiners complaining about the business model Tyson Lamb has created.  It's his prerogative how he runs his business.  If he wants to limit the number of putters he puts out then so be it.  Maybe that's the reason he can get the insane dollars he does. I say good for him.  For those who want a Lamb putter email him and say I'll wire $12,500 for a 'name your model' putter. I bet that would get a response back.

This is all very simple, he is not a putter maker.  He is an accessory guy that makes a few putters a year and because he makes so few of them and his accessories are well received he then uses that to charge outlandish prices for everything.  If you make less than 50 putters a year you are not a putter maker, you are a dabbler, you can make putters, but an actual custom putter maker can hand mill a putter(from scratch), can design a head, make hosels, mill loft into a head, meet custom weight requirements.  

 

The following guys/companies are putter makers.....

Mannkrafted

Byron

Lajosi

Tad Moore

 

There are some others, (Those four happen to be my favorites) but there are also guys that mill a head purely CNC and stamp, or guys that have someone else mill a head and the stamp it but aren't milling loft in a head, can't handmill a putter, can't make hosels, can't do custom weighting, etc, etc.  

 

While I wrote this, 4 more companies opened their websites making "custom putters"
