For the kuro kage experts out there, which retail version flex is equivalent to Rory’s xts shaft? Is it the kuro kage XT 70 x or 70tx? Thanks!

Pretty sure it's a TX. Butt codes don't indicate one way or the other, but two guys that have/still use it (Fleetwood and Sergio) have used it interchangeably with the XT 70TX/80TX.

Considering he'd played his 3w at ~13* lots of time, he kind of already has one.

Rory is searching, he's admitted as such, and is trying to find the consistency he once had.
I kinda feel sorry for him, and the other TM boys, getting thrown a new driver and fairways in their bags each year.

Taylormade is very pushy about their products it seems to the pros...  does the pro absolutely have to play it to make me want to? Not at all.. all it has to do is perform for me well not them... if they just so happen to play it then woopdie dooo...

It must be time for the annual which player is moving to which OEM thread.  If I had some inside knowledge I would start it!

I agree with the Rory prediction.  I don’t see any existing big names going to TM (they have got many of the young guns onboard already).  I feel Callaway need another big signing. PING have Finau and Hovland so Westwood and Bubba are less important for them now…

Anyway, no more derailing this thread!

Rory's management is very smart by only doing long term contracts, which protects him during extended slumps like now. Didnt he also get paid 250M by Nike???

Rory's laughing all the way to the bank!!! 💸🤑💰

I wouldn't say there's no adjustment period.  It shouldn't take a decent golfer long to adjust to new clubs.  Within 20 swings, the golfer will know if it feels right for them, how much they can spin it both back and side, etc.  Tour pros don't just take 2 swings and say, ok well this shaft is garbage.

Well they should...better is better and you would know it right away. If not you are simply hoping that it is better.  Once you found better all previous gear should be rendered useless. If you are playing a new club and then revert back to something you played previously, the new gear simply wasn't better than the previous generation.  I get it if you have gained or lost performance the need for a refit but this doesn't appear to be the situation with Rory.

He's still got plenty of pop so distance has never been an issue for him.  It seems like he's lost confidence in his dispersion/accuracy.  I get that he's always been one of the best drivers of the ball, but when you average 325ish off the tee like he does, it's just not always gonna end up in the fairway.  You're correct in that the newer stuff isn't always better and that there should be some level of immediate improvement, but it does take some time to get used to equipment.

Oh I truly get it as I am a high swing speed player that hits it about as far as Rory and have definitely been through those moments when I can't seem to keep the ball on the planet!! Of course the easy way out is to blame the equipment.  But you know when he wasn't blaming his equipment...the day he put whatever shaft in his club and everyone noticed it... and he was likely interviewed talking about how it is so much better than what he played previously  and his numbers and such were better.  The shaft didn't change...he is just going through a funk and isn't hitting it as well as he can.  Sure its his prerogative to play whatever he choses but it's not the shaft, it's him.  Next year the next big thing shaft will come out and he will be playing that and the cycle will repeat and we all know it! This game will drive you mad!

He did switch back to the Sim2 3W, but still used a Sim Max Rescue and the P730's.

I don't think 3W is the thing holding Rory back at the moment.

I think what’s holding him back is the comfort in what he’s using. Tried the MBs and then switched to x7s in the MB’s to switch back to his normal shaft and the 730s. They work and are in a comfort zone for him. That problem fixed….now the woods. He’s been switching shafts in the driver often as he’s searching for something and the same in the 3 wood. He’s been in and out of the Ventus black in the driver and in the sim2 &max 3 wood. Back in the pics for the Ryder cup he’s back in the OG sim with now a Ventus black which is different than the ck pro white 80tx and the tensei av raw 85tx he had. If you aren’t comfortable with any of the equipment it leads to confidence issues. Rory is in a league of his own when him and everyone else are on their A game so in my opinion once he’s 100% comfortable with everything he’ll start to find some footing and hopefully get back to winning more often like he use to do
