Anyone Have An Idea of What TM’s Driver Plans Are for 2022?

The only made for that they’re using is their non velocore ventus shafts. Their RDX, Tensei, etc non upcharge shafts will be identical to what everyone else is using.  There is a big difference between the Tensei that comes for free vs the Tensei pro line from a few years ago. Or the 1K that’s out now.

And if you’re looking to a diamana as a comparison, in don’t know of any shafts offered as stock that would be comparable in quality. Not that they’re bad shafts. But they’ll all be mass produced vs a high end shaft like the diamana lineup.

No, for sure, I’m definitely not expecting any stock shaft to be comparable to a Diamana. I’m more just wondering where and how Kai’li fits in — more on the Tensei Raw/AV Raw stock offering type end, or closer to the real premium shafts. I understand the price point is in between, just curious to see where Mitsubishi ultimately goes with them.

So it’s the C4 reincarnated. Anyone remember hitting that thing was a solid twack

The Stealth will be light years better than a flop driver released 20 years ago. Much better tech with the Stealth. The C4 driver was an absolute piece of garbage. The ball felt and sounded like a marshmallow when hit. Was short as well. One of the worst club flops in recent history regardless of the OEM. It disappeared from the market place as fast as it was released. Sort of like when Callaway released their Tour Blue line of putters or the Odyssey flip face putter.

Callaway has released many great clubs over the years. The C4 might have been their worst.

Has anyone brought up the My Stealth yet?  IE customize your driver in your own color way?

It has been mentioned that face color can be customizable - I assume that this is on top of the customization available in the past. No confirmation yet - since we're 20ish days from official release.

The face isn’t as red as the pic looks.  It’s more toned down in person. Best TM driver I’ve hit.  Sound and feel are incredible.  Also ball speed and off center hits are more forgiving than the SIM2 line.  They spin less on high face contact as well.  Durability is not an issue.   Can’t wait.

Just wondering but how do you know durability is not an issue after just hitting it?

Golf Channel will be airing Tiger's pro am on Friday, so other than pics from practice, that's likely going to be the first look/listen we'll get.

Just saw a WITB for Tiger’s pre-tournament setup and, sadly, no Stealth to be found. I think they’ll hold until the Hawaiian swing in January to unveil on tour and make a splash.

It's also tiger...notorious for his equipment having to be exact and well tested. He may just not be ready to put it in play.

I don't get how so many people, especially people who change their drivers every few months, are worried about durability.

If it breaks, Taylormade will replace it.  Any manufacturer is going to replace a club that breaks during use.  The people who have the most to lose if they keep breaking are not people who buy the club.  It's Taylormade.

Why are people so concerned about it?

Yuppies they have to moan about something

I crack my driver and TM can't get me a replacement for a month.

I can't really see there being an issue with the face itself, as carbon is much better at handling repeated stress cycles without failing than metal. I could see the joint between the face to the metal head possibly being an area where a failure could happen. But as mentioned, likely only a very small part of the market will actually hit it hard enough to expose that potential issue, and those folks will have their heads warrantied.

A month this time of year is nothing, and bonus is that you may end up with a brand new model of the next driver.  I cracked my SIM earlier this year, and they sent me out a new SIM2 in about a week and a half. I'd gladly wait 2 months to get a Stlth replacement, I have other drivers I can play right now. 🤣

Not everyone has backups.

I'm lucky to know a retailer well enough that I can usually take a replacement off their shelf and they just replace stock when TM sends the replacement. Not everyone has that retailer relationship...

And, if constraints are bad again, they may not have enough on the shelf to be able to do that.  And, what if TM doesn't have the stock to replace heads in a timely manner.  I am sure they tested this thing knowing they had to get this right.  But, there is always potential for some unforeseen issues to arise.

I am still on board.  But, I will keep my SIM for this reason.  The fact that it isn't worth much at this point helped me in that decision haha.

Because R&D at Taylormade will put the driver on a robotic arm and swing at 120mph for 10--20,000 times(or probably alot more) to test durability.  That's how they know

Metal faces still fail even after those tests also.

I cracked my SIM a few weeks ago and had a new, in the wrapper SIM2 by the next weekend. My experience with Taylormade is that they are really good about replacing damaged clubs and turn the replacements around quickly.

At this point, yeah. They have excess inventory of sim2 heads. But I recall seeing folks who were waiting weeks for a replacement earlier in the year.

I wonder how the Stealth carbon metallic face would be like after hitting sandy range balls? With the current Ti face, there are cosmetic marks but what will the sand grains do with the carbon face..thats what I like to know before plonking down $$$ 🙄

s*** happens man.  Not every head in mass production gets QC tested.  Generally, only a few of each batch get tested.  This is a reality for every product mass produced and every manufacturer in business.
As a consumer you either accept that risk or you don't buy the product. Generally, a manufacturer is going to weigh up the odds of failure and cost of replacement against potential profits. No OEM is going to release a driver they have to replace at cost to their bottom line every 6 months.  If you're still unhappy with that knowledge and find the risk unacceptable, then maybe this isn't the hobby for you. IDK.

That's what I am saying.  It's not like the metal faces never have issues.  If one of these faces has a problem it doesn't necessarily point to a design flaw.  Like you said, you take that risk with every purchase.

That does seem like a concern, but I already always use impact tape when hitting range balls to limit any issues.  I will definitely be sure to do the same with the Stealth, if I go that route.
