I don’t think dirt would be an issue since the plastic isn’t permeable. However, in the long term, (5 or so years) UV rays may turn it a yellowish hue.

Maybe just me, but this is about the ONLY bag in the lineup I would be interested in and already owning a HL, I'd pass anyway.  If these are the US release colors, too, I have to say... flop on most.  Bummer.

Looks like they rearranged the orientation of the pockets a bit? Rangefinder pocket looks more vertical, and the valuables pocket is more on the side of the apparel pocket than on top like in previous versions.

 

I'm not a fan of the new logo on the apparel pocket. It looks smaller, but somehow seems more in your face / aggressive with the "Hoofer Lite" script also.

I do have the previous version. There is another pocket on the outside of the apparel pocket. The apparel pocket is a bit smaller and there is another pocket next the ball pocket.  The cart strap pass through is a little different as well. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

Seems like the 2022 version has a better layout.  They reduced the large garment pocket and added a small useless pocket next to the ball pocket.  It looks like they want to advertise more pockets, but extra small pockets don't do much for me (especially when stealing space from the large pocket).

Interesting -- I have no real use for a giant pocket aside from stuffing my pullover into it as the weather warms up during an early-morning round, but absolutely love extra small pockets. Makes things much easier to organize for me. Not suggesting either of us is right or wrong in any way -- just a matter of different preferences, that's all. 

 

@islesmb, now that you've had it a little bit, any chance you can share a quick review of the '23 Hoofer? Anything you're liking or disliking so far?

I kind of like the extra pockets as well.

 

So far only 2 very minor complaints. The top 2 sections for clubs are a little bit smaller that the previous version but there is more room behind the grab handle. The bottom 2 connectors for the shoulder straps are clipped in for some reason and they make a little noise when carrying.

It is the same. I don't see that going away. It works far too well.

I've used mine for three rounds now. I came from a 2018 Hoofer Lite which I liked a lot, but I wanted a few of the new features, namely the magnetic pocket, and the other smaller pockets

 

This is the right side. Yes, the large apparel pocket is a little smaller. But I play in AZ, rarely walk, and never carry, so this is fairly moot for me. 

 

 

 

 

This is the new small pocket on the side of the ball pocket. I really like these little elastic sub pockets but I also accept that the elastic will fail after a couple years in the heat 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the larger pocket on top of the large apparel pocket

 

 

 

 

 

 

The large apparel pocket with two sub pockets, the upper one is mostly horizontal and the lower more vertical.

 

 

 

 

 

This is the lower valuables pocket for your pocket lint or whatever. I like to stick ball markers, divot tools, and the like in here. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the upper valuables pocket and is soft lined. Perfect size for my phone, keys, etc. My only complaint is you larger handed gentlemen won't be getting anything more than your fingers in here. I have small hands and can barely get on in there. 

 

 

 

 

The rangefinder and ball pocket. Ball pocket is pretty standard. One of the specific reason I got this one was the large handle for this pocket, and the tee holder on the inside. I'm generally skeptical of keeping valuables in magnetic pockets, especially since I ride, but these magnets are sound and you have to open it deliberately.

One big pro, I like some of the new Taylor Made bags, but their pockets are FLAT. Good size top to bottom, but no billow to them so you can't really get much in them, or you have to fight to do it. Ping gets this done very well and all their pockets seem to be quite roomy. 

 

Carrying it feels the same, though I rarely carry any further than my car or the range. Ping nails this. Generally the most ergonomic bag for me. I have broken several vertebrae and had brain surgery and am extremely picky about my bags.

 

If I had a complaint it would be that the top valuables pocket is the perfect size, but the opening itself needs another inch or two which should be quite easy in the location. Also, I love the black, but it's going to be grey in three or four years. I'd love to have it in a solid Navy, but I assume more colors will be forthcoming

All in all, I wanted a stand bag that was larger, especially just larger than my Hoofer lite, but not the size of a cart bag. My ADHD makes me want all my stuff neat and separated, and this nails that perfectly. It really looks like Ping took a bunch of feedback about the last version and worked hard to keep the bag functional and still incorporate important changes. Importantly, all the pockets are on sort of a slant to the top and towards the straps. I feel like this is a nod to those who are going to put this bag on a cart and not just carry. It's will keep everything in place via gravity, even if you accidentally leave a zipper undone. I love it so far.

Could someone post a picture of the top, and the dividers? I've yet to find a good 5 hole top that is better than what Nike is doing. I like my putter to have its own compartment at the top that not banging around.

How do ya'll organize on the 5 hole hoofers?

@butler did you happen to get a weight of the empty bag, including rain hood and straps? I always see 5.5 lbs but never know if thats just the bag or the whole unit. thanks for the pics!

While not the 2023 Hoofer, I have the previous version of the Hoofer Lite.  With straps and rainhood it weighs just under 5 lbs.  PING is the only bag company I'm aware of that is honest with bag weights.

Yes, i feel the same but since they don't promote it anymore on there website (for the lite version) I was wondering if they might just put it as a "get a more expensive bag and you will get the benefits" thing. 🙂

Yes, the Hoofer Tour does.

 

The Hoofer Tour Lite does not. It's the same material as regular Hoofer Lite bags.

yeah but at least I get to explain to my playing partners that I am one of the few people in the US with this bag and then they argue with me for the rest of the round how I am not. 

 

But yes it is exactly the same except for the colors and logo.

My PGA Tour Superstore also has the new 2023 Black and a weird multicolor.  I'm really interested in the new Heather/Platinum/White.  

 

...but only other countries are getting them, and some guy in South Korea is selling the heather lite pictured below below for $500 to make a profit.  Unfortunate for US buyers.
