I love the Masters, not least as it (sort of) marks the start of the golf season for those of us in colder climates. 

 

I'm looking forward to seeing how the changes to the 13th play in reality. I've been saying for years that they should lower the tee box to make the drive more difficult and stop players cutting the corner so much. It seems like they've opted to ignore my expert input and have...raised it instead! 🤔

I hate it for Jason to have these health calamities. When he was younger he played Augusta so well I always thought he’d win it. After he peaked a few years ago then succumbed to injuries it looked like his window closed but he’s resurrected his game somewhat and I like cheering for him. I hope he makes the cut and plays well.

Is Gary Player going senile in his old age? Seems to have a beef with Augusta National based on recent comments, upset they won't allow him to bring guest to play the course, downplayed the importance of the Masters compared to the other majors, claims to have made the Masters what it is today but doesn't feel welcomed there. Very strange that he would wait until he's 87 years old to air these complaints, maybe there's more to it.

I agree with Gary......he should be able to invite me and my friend for a round at ANGC.🤣

Gary in not aging gracefully. I’m sure ANGC is not real happy having him sport the Saudi Golf logo the last couple years, and I wouldn’t be surprised that he wasn’t behind that stunt with the golf balls that got his son banned. Augusta gave full memberships to Jack and Arnie, but not Player. I’m sure there is a reason.

Gary doesn't do anything for free. ANGC likely has an honorarium for Jack, Tom and Gary for the ceremonial first tee shot. ANGC pays at least 10k to past champions for simply showing up for the Champions dinner along with paying the players 10k that miss the cut.

I was shocked to hear what Player said. He’s risking some major blow back. Augusta doesn’t play around and if they could find a way to exclude him from the honorary shot they probably would. I doubt they’ll ever ask him to the interview room again. Might not even be interviewed on TV like he has in the past.

My pick to win is Scottie, he’s playing so well right now. My two to chase and keep an eye on are Jordan Spieth and Jason Day. My dark horse (crazy calling him that) is Brooks Koepka. He’s rolling the rock great this week.
