With the crippling QC issues TM has faced with these faces cracking, separating from the rest of the body, and all broken drivers all around, I don't expect anybody will truly be looking to emulate them too closely.

Crippling qc issues?  I think they’re doing ok…

 

every company has driver failures.  Taylormade gets the most publicity because they sell a ton of drivers.  I have yet to see an issue at my club with either stealth and the guy I play with the most has 185 ball speed.  He did crack a Titleist head though.

Multiple people I've been in contact with have had their Taylormade driver heads replaced under warranty twice. Only problem is Taylormade's policy didn't replace it when it failed a third time.

I made it all last season and half of this year without an issue. I’m now on my 4th head in 3ish months due to them cracking. Not anywhere near 185bs. I cruise about 169-170. I think it just boils down to some heads are better than others.

Crippling is exactly how I would describe a billion dollar company that made one of the top 100 places to work list.....   probably gonna be out of business next year.

Towards the end of the most recent TXG podcast I think Mikey hinted at a return of P760s in 2024. Said some new irons coming from TM  and when Ian asked which one he said the 770s minus a few numbers. He could be joking but would be exciting if true!

no one cares what “Bobby” from King of the Hill errrr Mikey has to say….but a 760 would be interesting because TM guys who need that help either go 790 or nothing else really. 770 just doesn’t sell well at all for some reason, even the 23’ version.

Found myself wanting to get 770s. I liked them. Didn’t hate anything about them. However, zx7s, mp 223s, and even the t150’s felt better than the ‘23 770s. Also, when I did a TM fitting the screw in the hosel on the demo club broke and flew about 50yds down the range. That was enough bad juju for me to settle elsewhere.

Not a fan of the KOTH, but I will never look at Mikey again. I stated earlier according to my Rep no new players irons in spring release. But who knows, it’s not officer until it’s on WRX.

Bad feel, blade-like forgiveness level, it's easy to see why not a ton of people flocked to it.

I'd love to see the 770s be turned into a more traditional lofted version of the 790s (2* weaker), still hollow and foam filled.

 

Then the 760 be the fully forged model.

Does anyone know if the TP Reserve putters will get more options in 2024? I tried them in-store and thought they were solid, but I hate any sightlines on my putters. I want to give it a go for a season, but still waiting on more customization.

Just my opinion on taylormade drivers. I want to love some of them and they do preform even though i do think they are some of the less forgiving drivers out there but i cant stop feeling them being more head heavy then the rest of whats out there. Like sledge hammer-ish.  I think i just dont mix with their drivers.

I was watching a smaller YouTube channel the other day, I think the guy was doing a shaft comparison using a Stealth 2, and no lie, the 60x carbon face flew off right into the simulator screen! I literally lmao

760 was complete dud at retail.

Yet the players who have them want a new version, me included. Not sure if an updated version fits in the current line (790/770/MC/MB). 
I highly doubt there is “room” for a 5th iron. Talked with TM recently about this very subject and I think we need to see what the refreshed 770 version will be in the fall of ‘24.

So weight wise they are far from the heaviest OEM in standard actual head weight.

But they do no feel as good as say Ping or Callaway.....you really don't feel any rebound.  I believe that is due to the Carbon Face & way too much "Epoxy" holding the driver together.

 

I occasionally go back and play a round with my R9 Superdeep or R7 425TP & those actually feel amazing.

Surely they are sticking with carbon for the driver release? The marketing optics of going back to metal wouldn't be great.

Same.  Never had a failure.  So, 1 for 1 on good carbon faced drivers.  I guess I should be concerned about the titanium drivers and steel woods I have had fail on me though.

I don't think that this was a failure by any stretch for TM. They simply innovated and pushed boundaries. Are there going to be faces cracked? Yes. Did they do their homework? Again, yes. I'd love to see a new iteration of the carbon face like a progression of the technology. They're a smart company and are doing well, so I doubt they make a poor driver in the future when they know their sales from woods are what really move the needle for them. They're slowly gaining traction in the wedge game and continue to sell Spider putters. 

 

For the future, I'd love to see the P770 and P7MC mesh into one iron like the 760. Give it some tech in the longer irons but have a great feel that people are accustomed to with the P7MC and P760. I could see them going after the T100/T150 line.
