I remember watching a tournament a while back and they told a story about him showing up to a tournament before he was a pro and purposely hitting a bunch of bad shots/shanks on the range to screw w/his fellow competitors. Then goes out n smokes ‘em! 😜

Highly skilled, but his dbaggery makes it hard to root for him as of late. Likely to end up in the guys I don't like but whose game can't be denied category by the end of the year if he keeps pace.

Greg Norman was -24 in winning the Players in 1994.  The course is in perfect shape and the weather was great today.  Rough will get taller and the greens will get quicker over the next three days.

I remember the first Players. Was a junior in HS and really getting into golf - and a huge Nicklaus fan (holy crapsticks am I old - can't believe I'm watching the 50th). The course was waaaaaay different then. 

 

But anyway I think you're right. Suspect the course will toughen up on the weekend.

Co-signing Rory's comments that the Tour should have far fewer spots now that he's in a nice, secure place when what he calls for would have made for far fewer opportunities for him to move up as he did. His antics on the course any time something doesn't go his way, highlighted by anger at being caught in a divot then proceeding to make said divot massive with his temper tantrum after the shot. Foolishness on Twitter from a while back. The more spotlight he gets the more it seems like his golf is most of what he brings to the table.

 

Guy comes across as an above average dnozzle who's graced with being good at a sport and has quickly forgotten how he got to where he is. Luckily for him most opinions won't affect his checks one way or another unless he really goes off the deep end.

True but he’s come from nowhere to celebrity millionaire in a heartbeat so isn’t used to the spotlight and probably hasn’t had any media training either

I've been lukewarm on him but its a work in progress. He has potential. Got the game and seems to be a little more interesting and less robotic than some of the big names.

Yes. Was at Ponte Verde. First one at TPC Sawgrass was 1982. But my sentiment remains the same. The course has changed dramatically over the years. It now looks like some hyper-manicured estate suitable for the King of England or something. Was a lot more raw in the early days.

NBC 4K was a mess today, at least on YouTube TV.  Resolution was fine but the picture was totally washed out - there is a thread on the YouTube TV sub-reddit about it.  Golf Channel HD broadcast was better than the NBC 4K broadcast today.
